The Yorkshire region
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.
On the edge of the North York Moors National Park between the towns of Helmsley and Pickering lies the attractive old market town of Kirkbymoorside. This wonderfully quaint place provides reams of old world charm in the period architecture as well as the many shops, tea-rooms, pubs and restaurants. A near by 18-hole golf course caters to enthusiasts whilst the National Park provides excellent walking and magnificent scenery. The picturesque villages of Hutton le Hole and Lastingham are also worth a visit whilst nearby Pickering provides the base of the North York Moors Steam Railway – one of the essential days out for all visitors to the area whether you're a train enthusiast or not. Both the cathedral town of York and the Yorkshire Coast are within driving distance, offering the attractions of both urban areas and seaside resorts.
