Explore the small churches such as St Gregory, Kirkdale dating from the 11th century or visit some of the large country houses and gardens open to the public such as Castle Howard, Duncombe Park or Nunington Hall.
The Coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough and Robins Hood Bay are within easy distance for a family day out as is the walled medieval city of York with its famous York Minster.
Fadmoor on the edge of the North York National park is well served for bicycle and walking routes.
Take to the road and walk or bicycle to one of the many pubs for a well earned lunch or dinner. Or perhaps explore further to the bustling market towns of Pickering, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley all offering a wonderful range of shops selling antiques, local food and produce and crafts.
