Kaber Chapel
About the home
The chapel has been designed by ourselves to create a stunning and contemporary design that we think captures the best from two different cultural styles (English & Norwegian) whilst still retaining many of the chapel features. this is an alternative self catering venue to bring family and friends for an active or relaxing holiday, short break, celebration or reunion. This is our dream place. It's designed to help us and others escape their stressful lives, to be active by walking or cycling in the area or just relaxing with the chapel facilities.

The Cumbria/Lake District region

Kaber Chapel is located in the Eden Valley a tranquil corner of Cumbria - one of England’s most beautiful
counties and a lovely destination for a holiday at any time of year. The clean air and dramatic landscapes will refresh, inspire and rejuvenate anyone who visits. Close to the English Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North Pennines.
Eden will surprise you with its range of activities - there is so much to choose - from strenuous high mountain paths to gentle riverside strolls, plus golf, fishing, sailing, canoeing and other watersports. The Eden Valley is also increasingly popular with cyclists who enjoy the quiet country lanes and the famous C2C cycle-route. Despite its rural location, there are over seventy visitor attractions in Eden so whether your interests are outdoor activities, fine food, family days out or delving into the area’s unique history, you will find something to suit you.
The Kirkby Stephen / Kaber area
The property is situated just two miles from Kirkby Stephen which is situated on Wainwright's famous 'Coast to Coast' walk. In the 'Cathedral of the Dales', as the Parish church of St Stephen is known, you will find the ancient 'Loki Stone' - symbol of an eighth century Norse God. This quaint and traditional market town has a post office, grocers, greengrocers, convenience stores, specialist food stores, bakers, newsagents, ironmongers, supermarket and chemist. Also, an interesting range of antique shops, bookshops, craft shops, gift shops, galleries and a tourist information centre.
Two miles in the other direction and you reach the historic market town of Brough with its 11th Century castle.
The nearest pubs to the chapel are The Bay Horse Inn in Winton and The Black Bull Inn in Brough Sowerby. Both within walking distance and serve good food.
Travel for nine miles on a narrow fell road with stunning scenery to enter Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales and visit The Tan Hill Inn, the highest inn in Great Britain at 1732 feet..

Guestbook for Kaber Chapel
The chapel is a wonderful place and I am sure we will be back, winter or summer its a wonderful place to stay especially if you are looking for something special. - The Nelson/Hardman families
The chapel was amazing, the photographs on the website don't do it justice. - Melanie Griffin
Ten of us rented out Kaber Chapel for a reunion weekend. I was greeted on the Friday night with the chapel beautifully lit with candles and it in pristine condition. The whole place is finished to perfection and could not have been more comfortable. The hot tub, the indoor bbq and the ipod dock playing through the inbuilt roof speakers were all well used and made it all the more special. Sky sports on Sunday for the football went down very well too! Thank you very much. We will most definitely be back! - Jennifer Affleck
Our group of 11 old friends had a fabulous weekend up at Kaber Chapel, luckily the weather was awful so we didn't feel too guilty about not going outside for three days! - Kathryn Busfield
The space is perfectly suited to chilling out and and we particularly enjoyed the hot tub (good for intense conversations!) and the sauna cabin. We also made use of the beauty treatments that can be arranged at the chapel. - Lynne Hockney
