Beckstones Farmhouse is part of Ashlack Cottages, located near Ashlack Hall in the heart of the Lake District inside the National Park. Guests are welcome to walk from the doorstep across the woods, farmland and fells, of the 3,000 acre estate.

Coniston water is 10 mins by car. Windermere is 20 mins by car. The nearest village is Broughton in Furness about 5 miles away with some lovely independent shops and good pubs and the nearest town is the market town of Ulverston with markets on Thursday and Saturday. There are many cultural excursions locally such as Beatrix Potter, Ruskin's house, Blackwell, Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakeside and Havrthwaite Railway, Steamboat Museum, S Lakes wild animal park

The Lake District

Fantastic views and some of England's finest scenery provide a backdrop to the wide choice of attractions and things to do in the Lake District. Take a trip to Cumbria and enjoy yourself in quality food and drink from cosy Lake District pubs and inns to traditional restaurants.

Kirkby in Furness

Neolithic village on the fell - 20 minute walk from the Cart house. Beacon tarn for fresh water swimming and is about an hours walk away. Consiton is 10 minutes by car.

Ulverston a beautiful market town is 10 mins by car. Broughton in Furness also 10 minutes away has lots of nice pubs, an amazing butcher, baker and grocer, as well as an outdoor shop called the mountain centre - bicycles can be hired from here.

"Fantastic location for a family or friends to get together"

Arrived to find the farmhouse all ready for us. Shortly after our arrival our Tesco delivery appeared - much easier that trying to pack a lot of food and drink in the car.
The farmhouse is very quiet and isolated a safe environment for dogs and children. It is comfortable and very well equipped.

During our stay we had a trip to Grizedale forest where there is a variety of walks......don't forget to check out the Go Ape course (book before you go if you are interested). We visited Coniston and walked around part of the lake also Tarn Hows which is very pretty along with Hawkshead village. Make sure you take an OS map with you if you plan to do any walking from the door.
As a suggestion to the owner it would have been useful if there were a few recommended walks of different lengths that could be done from the door - we had a map with us though so this was no problem.
We would definately stay here again - Many Thanks
