Garrique Cottage offers a spacious and peaceful base for visitors wanting to walk the surrounding hills, visit the many local attractions, tour much of Scotland, or play on the private tennis court. It is tucked away in the hills, but only four miles drive or two miles walk from pretty Kippen where there is a post office/general store, two delicatessen/cafes, and two popular pubs offering good food. Historic Stirling is an easy drive, and boasts a comprehensive choice of supermarkets, most of which will deliver if booked in advance,

The cottage offers panoramic mountain views, and well equipped accommodation, all on one level. The 33 foot by 11 foot kitchen/ dining/living room with its beamed ceiling provides an ideal space for family activities with an interactive TV and doors out to a decking area with picnic table. Steps from the decking area lead to a private garden where children can play. The kitchen is equipped with fridges, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, ironing board and coffee machine.The separate sitting room has a wood burning stove (logs provided) and offers a haven for those who want to read, watch the TV or DVDs, play board games (provided) or gaze at the ever changing skies over the mountains to the North.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are just along the short corridor from the sitting room. The Master bedroom with its 6 foot wide bed is at the far end and can be ensuite with the shower room by closing a door on the corridor. It can easily accommodate a cot or another single bed (provided). The beds in the bunk room are large enough for adults, and the single beds in the twin bedroom can be pushed together into a double bed if requested.

The family bathroom has a basin, toilet, and bath with shower attachment , and there is small room with toilet and basin just inside the back door.

The overall Garrique property provides plenty of scope for exercise, with a choice of walks straight from the door and use of the hard tennis court. Visitors have seen a wide variety of birds and animals, including sparrow hawks, red kite, ravens, grouse, curlews, wood peckers, lots of song birds, deer, red squirrels, hare, and rabbits.

The cottage is a great base for exploring Scotland, as it is close to a network of motorways going north, southeast and southwest. Many visitors have made day trips to Inverness, St Andrews, Ben Nevis, Inverary, Loch Lomond, and even Iona, as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow. Others prefer to relax, explore the Garrique woods, go for a bike ride, or make the most of the facilities in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. There are five reasonably priced golf courses within half an hours drive.

The cottage has an EPC rating of C for energy efficiency and B for Environmental Impact.

Interaction with guest

The owners live 100 years away up the drive, with no oversight of the cottage and its garden. They are delighted to offer advice during your stay. They can provide tennis racquets for children or beginners, and eggs from their hens when they are laying well. One or two well behaved dogs per party are welcome, and would greatly enjoy accompanying its owner on the many walks starting at the cottage back door.

Why can't I call Fiona (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Fiona (the owner) a message.

If Fiona (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
