Furthermore, Tinos is at the same time one of the most modern islands in the Aegean today. It has a good and dense road network that leads to every corner of the island. The particularly dense ship transportation , a real phenomenon for an island of the Aegean, allows you great margins in regards to the choice of time, duration and means of transportation. It has the most modern port in the Cyclades, which is the third largest in Greece in regards to departures and arrivals.

Several taxi cabs and radio-taxi cabs companies in Chora (main town), and in big villages, such as Kalloni, Pyrgos, Steni, Falatados etc. serve the local and tourist population, covering every route of the road network of the island.
In addition, there are several car, SUV, and bike rental stores, in Chora. There are gas stations at the beginning of both the old and new regional road from Chora to the villages. There are two more gas stations on the island road network. One is located before Pyrgos (on the carriageway to Panormos) and another just before Tzados (on the carriageway to Pentostrato).
There are incredible routes on the island for off-road vehicles (4?4). Those routes run through wild, typically Aegean landscapes, mountain slopes, quarries leading to secluded beaches or remote, beautiful chapels. The road gets particularly rough and rugged at certain point, sending the adrenaline high. The state the off-road network changes almost every year, depending on winter weather conditions. So it is not easy to give a detailed description of these routes.
In brief, the most important routes are the following:
Saint Barbara - Pachia Ammos or Lyhnaftia.
Mountain ride on Tsiknias: Platy - church of Kioura or Phaneromeni - Steni (scenic route).
Falatados - church of Saint Obedience (Aghia Ipakoi) or Panaghia Kaki Skala or Prophet Elias or Panaghia Vourniotissa - Apothikes - Kolimpithra.
Church of Saint Gouliani (overlooking Aghapi village) - Apothikes - Kolimpithra.
Marlas - Mali or Koumelas.
Mamados - (Saint Theodores) - Gavalas (scenic route).
First crossroads on the way to Isternia bay - Vathy bay or Fourni or the tarmac leading to Mamados.
Second crossroads on the way to Isternia bay - rocky slates facing the islet of Apokoftos.
Kionia - Panoussa - Saint Romanus.
Photo enthusiasts will be thrilled with the variety of "subjects" on the island. Aspects of the villages, details of local architectonics, public fountains, old washhouses etc are but a few of the traits of pure Cycladic style to be captured in a snapshot. The sunlight at noon, cheerfully playing with the shadows in the alleys, on the whitewashed walls and the arches, is an element of particular interest to photography lovers. The sensational nuances of the golden dawn and the scarlet sunset will enchant the lens, while one should also try capturing the dark orange-brown veil spreading over the sky throughout the island in the evening hours.
