The Scottish Highlands region

The Highlands is the largest, yet least populated geographical area of Scotland and holds some of the most spectacular and diverse scenery like the towering mountain ranges of Nevis and Cairngorm, pockets of the old Caledonian Forest, plentiful lochs and rivers.
It plays host to a wealth of wildlife, with the majestic golden eagle soaring high over heads of red deer on the mountains and pine martens, roe deer, capercaillie, squirrels and wild cat all finding refuge in pockets of the ancient Caledonian Forest. Dolphins and seals navigate the seas, while otters, ospreys and sea eagles fish in the lochs and rivers.
The Kingussie area
Just l mile from the Highland Town of Kingussie, 12 miles south of Aviemore. Within l mile shops, restaurants, within 6 miles beach, wildlife park, folk museum, within 19 miles winter skiing, reindeer centre, osprey centre, various visitor attractions.
One of the best golf courses in the Cairngorm National Park only a few minutes drive away and fishing less than 400metres.

As the title of this review states, this is by far the number 1 holiday cottage we've stayed in throughout Scotland. Julie and John are most welcoming hosts and have provided us with numerous fantastic holidays in this wonderful Cairngorm location. Situated close to Kingussie and it's local amenities, plus only a stones throw further to Aviemore and the Cairngorm ski resort, the cottage is perfect for couples or family holidays. We have never gone wanting for things to do and find the book of suggested places to visit a first read upon arrival. All in all, the cottage has everything; location, peace and quiet, great hosts, comfort, cleanliness and quality with many items refreshed before they become tired or too well used. We will be back time and time again as we have before and cannot recommend this cottage highly enough. Thanks, Rob |
