The West Country region
Few areas of the UK, or even Europe, have a lure greater than beautiful South Devon.
Dramatic Dartmoor gives way to rolling hills, wooded valleys and stunning coastline that never fails to leave visitors wishing they could stay just that little bit longer.
While away your days in market towns and quaint villages that retain their tradition whilst now offering fine dining and excellent shopping, or leave the townships behind and head to any one of the outstanding sandy beaches that dot the South Devon coast.
It's impossible not to fall in love with lazy, relaxed South Devon and it's otherworldly pace of life.
Kingsbridge, the capital of the South Hams offers an assortment of things to do and see, including an excellent range of shops; from clothing boutiques, to delis brimming with delicious local produce, in addition a large supermarket services Kingsbridge and the surrounding villages.
Bickerton is situated close to Start Point, with the breathtaking South West Coastal path just minutes away. Hallsands Beach is a 1/4 of a mile away, with the stunning Mattiscombe and Lannacombe beaches just a few minutes in the car.
A 30 minute walk will take you to the neighbouring village of Beesands, with the excellent Cricketers Inn serving some great food.
There is also the Britannia, a small, quaint cafe that sells some of the freshest sea food available- well worth a trip!
Also close by is Torcross and Slapton Sands made famous by Operation Tiger during WW2. Alongside is the nature reserve of Slapton Leigh.
Blackpool Sands, Dartmouth (along with Woodlands Leisure Park and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club are just 20 minutes away.
Salcombe is well worth a visit too- why not park in East Portlemouth (a 10 minute drive) and catch the passenger ferry over to Salcombe?
