Thatcher's End is a lovingly restored, very quaint, 'olde worlde', thatched 18th Century cottage, attached on one side and tucked in a quiet, little used lane, opposite a small farm, in the centre of Churchstow. The village, only a couple of miles from the fabulous coastline of the South Hams, is on the main artery between Kingsbridge and Modbury and therefore ideally placed to easily reach places of interest in the area. The cottage is delightful, beautifully furnished and finished to a high standard, a really lovely hideaway for two. This warm and cosy cottage is also a special spot for winter breaks.
"Superb, cosy little cottage, very comfortable. I love the attention to detail and the decor is lovely!"
From the lane the front door opens directly into the most attractive beamed living room that retains many period features including flagstone floors, an exposed stone wall in which is featured an inglenook fireplace inset with a wood burner. The room is most comfortably furnished with a rug, two seater comfortable sofa and chair, a small dining table, wall mounted flat screen TV with DVD and CD player. Doorway (low headroom), leads into the well equipped and fitted galley kitchen with bespoke oak units, electric double hob, built in eye level oven, fridge and dishwasher. A stable door opens from here to a paved area alongside the cottage. Off the kitchen is a very smart tiled bathroom with bath, handheld shower over, basin and WC. Narrow and steep spiral stairs rise from the sitting room to a charming open plan bedroom with fitted wardrobe and a 5ft bed.
A paved area (not enclosed and alongside the lane) outside the kitchen is provided with a bench.
Parking: Bay for 1 car a few yards from the cottage. Further on road parking available close by.
Included: Bed linen, towels, initial supply of logs in winter, electricity and heating (night storage). No cot, but room for guests' moses basket.
Telephone: No telephone. Good mobile reception.

Few areas of the UK, or even Europe, have a lure greater than beautiful South Devon. Dramatic Dartmoor gives way to rolling hills, wooded valleys and stunning coastline that never fails to leave visitors wishing they could stay just that little bit longer. While away days in market towns and villages that have retained their tradition whilst now offering great dining and excellent shopping, or leave the townships behind and head to any one of the outstanding sandy beaches that dot the South Devon coast. It's hard not to fall for the otherworldly pace of life making a stay in a South Devon holiday cottage the perfect escape from the 9-5.
Kingsbridge, the capital of the South Hams and our home, offers an assortment of things to do and see, including an excellent range of shops; from clothing boutiques to delis and a three screen cinema. In addition, two large supermarkets service Kingsbridge and the surrounding villages and there is a large indoor public pool, great for those rare (cough) rainy days.
There are a selection of great pubs and restuarants including the brilliantly located Crabshell Inn on the estuary banks and the Creeks End on the town square which becomes the venue for various events throughout the summer including the Toad Hall Cottages sponsored Food and Music Festival!

"Great little get away"
Lovely old quaint cottage Nice walks nearby and a pub a short walk away -though pub is more of a restaurant as unfortunately no lounging area which would have been nice.Owners were very accommodating,… More
