Salcombe lies a few miles away and is famous for its beautiful estuary, its sailing, boating and golden beaches. Thurlestone Sands is a wonderful beach for sunbathing, swimming and watersports. The wonderful surrounding countryside is designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' and is a real joy for those who enjoy the outdoors. There are many beautiful country walks quite literally on your doorstep. South Hams offers a wide variety of days out, including Dartmouth for shopping and its beautiful castle, or take a trip to Agatha Christie's house. The market town of Kingsbridge, 3 miles away, provides all the main local amenities such as shopping, supermarket, cinema and leisure centre.
