"Fabulous cottage, great location, peaceful surroundings, comfortable living."

The cottage was welcoming and peaceful, and the kitchen was well provided. The only sounds we heard were from the birds and the sheep and cows. We had fresh eggs every morning from the neighboring hens. We could walk to hills and streams from our cottage and to Avon Mill, by way of Avon River, for scones and tea or lunch. We shopped at nearby Kingsbridge for food.....great and reasonable produce....and had superb Indian food at he Maha Bharat in Kingsbridge. It was a short drive to the ocean, e.g. Hope Cove and Salcombe, for terrific walks along the cliffs. This was our second and longest stay at Bramleigh, and hopefully not our last.

"An immaculate cottage, well equipped in a beautiful setting"

I stayed at Bramleigh Cottage the 1st week of June 2013 with my partner, parents and 2 year old son. We all had an amazing time and wouldn't hesitate in recommending a stay in the cottage. I chose Bramleigh cottage as I was 33 weeks pregnant at the time and read the amazing reviews about how clean and well equipped the cottage was and how relaxing previous guests had found their stay. I have to say that the reviews are accurate - I have never stayed in such a clean holiday cottage, it really was immaculate and had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed and more (including a booster seat, stair gate, children's cutlery).

It was extremely easy to book the cottage and Jean and Keith were extremely helpful throughout the process, always responding in a timely fashion. The directions to the cottage were extremely helpful..... now wrong turns at all! We were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine, some delicious biscuits and fresh eggs from the chickens at the top of the garden which was a lovely touch.

The welcome pack was extremely helpful and we picked up lots of good suggestions of where to go and what to do from the visitor's books. One thing I would advise though is NOT to use sat nav from the cottage - our sat nav took us up some extremely narrow country lanes and reversing quite long distances down these lanes when 33+ weeks pregnant was a little harrowing! After 3 days I finally made it clear to my other half that we wouldn't be using the sat nav anymore - the remainder of the holiday was perfectly stress free!

The location of the cottage is amazing, you're not too far from supermarkets, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and lots of amazing beaches but you're away from any hustle and bustle and are able to have a truly relaxing time.

My two year old loved the cottage and was really upset when we had to leave -as were the rest of us. The reviews sound too good to be true but they're really not. Great hosts, beautiful cottage, amazing setting and a truly relaxing break.

I'd recommend parking at South Sands Beach and catching the sea tractor and boat over to Salcombe..... beautiful!

Thanks to Keith and Jean for a lovely holiday.

"Lovely, a true home from home accomodation."

I would say that this was one of the best self catering properties that we have stayed in. It was in a lovely peaceful setting, clean and well equipped, everything had been though of, and fact a real home from home.
The location is also perfect for touring the area, such as Bigbury-on-Sea, Salcombe, Dartmouth and Brixham etc.
This was our first visit and excluding one wet day the weather was very good, and we hope to return again next year.

"Deightful holiday"

It's difficult to add anything to the earlier reviews for Bramleigh and Stokeleigh. I can only reiterate that the cottage and garden are really lovely - absolutely immaculate - and the whole area a delight. I won't hesitate to return or to recommend.

"Stunning holiday cottage"

This was our second visit to Bramleigh. The cottage has maintained its excellent standard and is a credit to the owners, as is Stokeleigh its sister cottage next door, which we have also had the pleasure of using for our holidays.

"Beautiful, tranquil, well equipped cottage"

Despite being a rather damp and chilly week ( 3rd -10th Sept- 2011) we found this cottage very cosy and welcoming. Very well equipped, and a lovely garden. First thing we did was sit outside with a glass of wine and packet of crisps from our thoughtful welcome pack! (The sun was out then...) We loved the surrounding area, Totnes, Kingsbridge, even venturing a s far as Cayman Golf near Brixham, and a lovely evening stroll watching the fishing boats going out at Brixham. The Avon Mill garden centre just up the road from Bramleigh was well worth stopping at for morning coffee or lunch on the way out, or a cream tea on the way back- good quality.. Despite a rainy last day, we enjoyed just sitting in by the fire reading - a blissful place is Bramleigh !But lots to do as well if you want, don't miss a game of Boulles in the garden..

"This is one of the very best holiday cottages I have ever stayed in."

This is one of the very best holiday cottages I have stayed in. The property is beautifully furnished with the most modern of appliances. It is idea as a holiday cottage for two (as we are) or with two children.

We are here in a rainy wet late-October week and it is still beautiful. The property is a converted barn located on a working dairy farm.

Even in October the house is cosy with a splendid central heating system.

The garden (even at this time of year (October)) is colourful and very well kept.

It is situated some 5 miles to the north west of Kingsbridge, the road here does involve the negation of a single track lane, but it is very quiet and people are polite and stop for each with a smile.

The small village of Woodleigh to the south of the property has eggs and jam for sell by the side of the road.

There is no mobile phone signal here at all, but internet access is easily available via a BT FON network which has been easy to set up and use.

"Comfortable, Clean and Well Equipped"

Super accommodation for a very relaxing break away from it all. Very clean and well equipped, a credit to the owners who clearly try to maintain their standards.

Kitchen was well equipped, clean and tidy. Two very comfy 2 person sofas and an arm chair in the living area with TV/DVD, plus ample outside furniture, bbq etc.

Good to have some privacy with a pleasantly maintained (small) terraced garden. The boules pitch (shared with the sister accommodation) was a bonus well used by our son.

As a coverted barn, the floors are upside down with living area upstairs and bedrooms downstairs, the latter just a touch cold and damp probably due to the fact this is a conversion of a stone barn beside a working farm. Accordingly important to maintain ventilation (as explained in the helpful notes for visitors thoughtfully provided with local information and maps).

Location excellent for touring the area, being only 15 mins or so from the main A38 or the many local beaches and coves. Bigbury probably the best beach, easily reached from here.

No mobile phone signal to speak of in the property, but local BT Openzone enabled temporary subscription for internet access. Full phone signal achieved in the main local towns. Apparently S Devon is notoriously bad for a signal, but to be honest this was a blessing in disguise as it forces "chill out" time!

We would like to thank you for your good and helpful comments and we are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday.

We were disappointed to read the comment about downstairs in the cottage. After some 200 bookings over the last eight years (approx 30% of which are returning visitors) it has not been commented on before or since. Following your visit, two other families and then ourselves have stayed there.

We know the cottage very well as we spend many weeks there ourselves. As you say, we do ask guests to ventilate the cottage whenever possible, particularly the bathroom, to prevent any condensation. There is an outside rotary dryer and a washer/dryer in the cottage for damp towels/clothes but it is possible that some guests have hung damp items around during earlier inclement weather and this may be the reason for your observation.

We have a very efficient heating system in the cottage (at no extra cost) and whilst we would not normally expect it to be needed in August we are happy for it to be used if necessary during the summer.

We would like to assure future guests that we have just spent last week in the cottage and it continues to be maintained to a very high standard. We have also installed a new washer dryer with a larger, more efficient drying capacity to make it easier for clothes drying.
