Despite being a rather damp and chilly week ( 3rd -10th Sept- 2011) we found this cottage very cosy and welcoming. Very well equipped, and a lovely garden. First thing we did was sit outside with a glass of wine and packet of crisps from our thoughtful welcome pack! (The sun was out then...) We loved the surrounding area, Totnes, Kingsbridge, even venturing a s far as Cayman Golf near Brixham, and a lovely evening stroll watching the fishing boats going out at Brixham. The Avon Mill garden centre just up the road from Bramleigh was well worth stopping at for morning coffee or lunch on the way out, or a cream tea on the way back- good quality.. Despite a rainy last day, we enjoyed just sitting in by the fire reading - a blissful place is Bramleigh !But lots to do as well if you want, don't miss a game of Boulles in the garden.. |

This is one of the very best holiday cottages I have stayed in. The property is beautifully furnished with the most modern of appliances. It is idea as a holiday cottage for two (as we are) or with two children. We are here in a rainy wet late-October week and it is still beautiful. The property is a converted barn located on a working dairy farm. Even in October the house is cosy with a splendid central heating system. The garden (even at this time of year (October)) is colourful and very well kept. It is situated some 5 miles to the north west of Kingsbridge, the road here does involve the negation of a single track lane, but it is very quiet and people are polite and stop for each with a smile. The small village of Woodleigh to the south of the property has eggs and jam for sell by the side of the road. There is no mobile phone signal here at all, but internet access is easily available via a BT FON network which has been easy to set up and use. |

Super accommodation for a very relaxing break away from it all. Very clean and well equipped, a credit to the owners who clearly try to maintain their standards. Kitchen was well equipped, clean and tidy. Two very comfy 2 person sofas and an arm chair in the living area with TV/DVD, plus ample outside furniture, bbq etc. Good to have some privacy with a pleasantly maintained (small) terraced garden. The boules pitch (shared with the sister accommodation) was a bonus well used by our son. As a coverted barn, the floors are upside down with living area upstairs and bedrooms downstairs, the latter just a touch cold and damp probably due to the fact this is a conversion of a stone barn beside a working farm. Accordingly important to maintain ventilation (as explained in the helpful notes for visitors thoughtfully provided with local information and maps). Location excellent for touring the area, being only 15 mins or so from the main A38 or the many local beaches and coves. Bigbury probably the best beach, easily reached from here. No mobile phone signal to speak of in the property, but local BT Openzone enabled temporary subscription for internet access. Full phone signal achieved in the main local towns. Apparently S Devon is notoriously bad for a signal, but to be honest this was a blessing in disguise as it forces "chill out" time! Response: We would like to thank you for your good and helpful comments and we are pleased that you enjoyed your holiday. We were disappointed to read the comment about downstairs in the cottage. After some 200 bookings over the last eight years (approx 30% of which are returning visitors) it has not been commented on before or since. Following your visit, two other families and then ourselves have stayed there. We know the cottage very well as we spend many weeks there ourselves. As you say, we do ask guests to ventilate the cottage whenever possible, particularly the bathroom, to prevent any condensation. There is an outside rotary dryer and a washer/dryer in the cottage for damp towels/clothes but it is possible that some guests have hung damp items around during earlier inclement weather and this may be the reason for your observation. We have a very efficient heating system in the cottage (at no extra cost) and whilst we would not normally expect it to be needed in August we are happy for it to be used if necessary during the summer. We would like to assure future guests that we have just spent last week in the cottage and it continues to be maintained to a very high standard. We have also installed a new washer dryer with a larger, more efficient drying capacity to make it easier for clothes drying. |
Guestbook for Bramleigh
It is truly one of the nicest and best equipped cottages we have stayed in and the location is stunning.
We have arrived home now from our holiday at Bramleigh and I just wanted to say how much we loved the cottage. It is stunning, so beautifully equipped and clean. The Garden is an absolute delight and the rural surroundings tranquil and relaxing. You have both obviously put a great deal of thought to make it so welcoming and it is indeed a credit to you both.
We thought both Bramleigh and Stokeleigh cottages were really lovely - probably the best we have stayed in. Everything is so well thought out and attractively presented - you must have had fun setting them up. What a lovely position too. We put the boules pitch to good use and even the little ones (5 & 3) got the hang of it while we pretended we were in the south of France!
Very, very impressed. Beautiful, clean, immaculate; a 5-star experience.
Idyllic surroundings, a generously equipped and beatifully presented cottage.
What a fantastic discovery. The cottage was wonderful, as were the surroundings, with something new to explore every day.
Our second visit to Bramleigh. A wonderful place to stay. We cannot wait to come back.
The cottage was a delight to our eyes when we arrived and we have never ceased to admire it.
An absolute gem. Superb accommodation in a fantastic location.
Gorgeous cottage, well equipped and immaculate.
