The East Anglia region

Norfolk is famous for having the most sunshine in the UK - and the least rainfall! There are many places of historical interest - specifically the nearby Sandringham (one of the homes of the Queen), Castle Acre with it's massive and beautiful Earthworks, Pentney Abbey. Norfolk is also famous for having a wealth Norman churches.

There's beautiful 'Norfolk Lavendar' which has a fantastic play Barn for children as well as an 'unusual' rare breeds centre. Oxburgh Hall is nearby - a charming National Trust House property with Gardens. There is the typical British seaside resort at Hunstanton - half an hour away by car. The gorgeous little Bircham Windmill where you can feed the sheep and horses. Walpole Water Gardens, Snettisham Park (near Hunstanton). Numerous coffee shops, garden centres, potteries and galleries in the area.

"Fantastic cabin"

The log cabin exceeded my expectations. I was lovely and homely and all rooms were a great size. The gardens are a good size and you could easily spend your holiday sitting in them. The surroundings were amazing

"peaceful, friendly and well placed location"

we had a lovely family holiday at Shephards Lodge. spent time in Kings Lynn and the surrounding beautiful beaches. Plus Pentney lakes is lovely, we even went on the banana boats on the lake. The neighbour is friendly too.
It is a spacious lodge with most things that are needed.
Kids had fun and so did we.

"A very comfortable, well equipped and pretty lodge for great value holiday in lovely, peaceful countryside."

We were trawling through all the available Holiday weeks on the site, as we`d left it till the last minute. We came across Shepherds Lodge Cabin, and can`t believe we managed to get it for August. Fantastic all round. The Cabin is a proper `home from home` in terms of having everything you need, really really comfortable. Recommend a trip to Sandringham, Oxburgh Hall - Norfolk Lavender for the kids, and Hunstanton for some English seaside! Shops/supermarkets in Kings Lynn for supplies. There isn`t a barbecue at the Cabin - but we checked with the owner and took some portable barbecues - there`s a choice of where to hang out in the gorgeous garden - we liked the top patio, although very handy to have a huge decked area with table and benches just by the living/dining/kitchen area.
We took bikes as it`s great biking terrain (not too many hills).
Can`t really fault it - except the dining table and chairs which we loved - were a bit heavy to manoeuvre! We`ll definitely be going back, in fact our son seems to think the only place to live is a log cabin now!

"All in all it surpassed our expectations."

Luckily for us - we managed to get this holiday at fairly short notice and we didn't really know what to expect - but it turned out to be a really lovely holiday. The Cabin is gorgeous - I imagine the winter there would be fantastic too - we did use the log fire on a few coolish nights. Debbie, the owner, was incredibly helpful - even when we didn't know how to switch on the hot water and rang her (we later realised it was on the written instructions in the Cabin - doh!) The location is peaceful and expansive, loads of room in the cabin and in the garden - the area is great for days out - but we were pretty happy with days in.
We're planning on taking a short break out of season - Christmas is booked otherwise we were hoping to go then - maybe next year. The only thing in terms of recommending it - is that you need a car - the nearest pub is 2 miles and shops are about 10 minutes by car and I don't know how you'd manage without one.
All in all it surpassed our expectations!

"Absolutely gorgeous house, terrific location - what a find!"

We stayed at Shepherds Lodge on the recommendation from a friend. The house is gorgeous, so spacious and comfortable and it has absolutely everything we needed. It's a real home away from home.Th… More
