About the home
Our self–catering holiday apartment is part of our detached traditional 18th C. stone-built house. This fresh brightly decorated ground floor garden flat consists of a fitted breakfast kitchen, lounge, one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, and a shower room with WC.
The flat has a front and back door , the back door leading to a small garden, and our much larger mature garden which you are welcome to share as you wish. The flat is totally self contained and forms part of our detached home , so we are close by if have any questions whilst enjoying your break. The flat has many original features which along with full gas central heating makes for a cosy atmospheric dwelling.
Situated in a quiet street on the edge of the preservation village part of Kincardine-on-Forth our house dates from around 1790. The village has many houses dating from the 18th Century, and although not a listed beauty spot does have some charming walks.

Many original features, including a Victorian fireplace in the lounge.
At one time was called " West Port " being at the Western end of the Village, and was the Village registrars for many years in the early 20th C.
The original painted glass panels above the main door show a Gryffon , a Unicorn and a Cherub with sword.
There is a sofa bed in the lounge which can offer one extra person a bed at a small extra cost.

We have a large mature garden, full of bird song., which along with your own small private garden you are welcome to share.
Around the village we have Blackadder Castle 15th C. now privately owned, and Tulliallan Castle and grounds now home to the Scottish Police College .
Kincardine has a few fast food outlets , including Chinese / Indian/ Italian Pizzas ,fish and chips. We also have The Unicorn Bistro in the village, The Unicorn has an excellent medium price menu for Lunch and Evening meals. There are also a variety of Pubs to explore, try the Station Inn, which has one of the smallest public bars in the UK.
The village of Kincardine- on- Forth was a busy ship building centre in the 18th and 19th C. and is said to have furnished quite a few ships with captains. From your base here in Kincardine you are within reach on many touring possibilities , the fishing villages of East Neuk of Fife , The beautiful Trossachs , Perthshire , Edinburgh and Glasgow are no more than 30minutes to an hours drive . On our doorstep we have the Ancient Tower , Cross and Celtic Stone of Clackmannan. The National trust village of Culross , the Ochil Hills with many fine glens to walk , and more. Historic towns such Stirling, Falkirk and Dunfermline, each with modern and traditional shopping are only 20 minutes away.

The Fife region


We are on the border of Fife and Clackmannanshire with Stirlingshire just across the river Forth , central to an area of Lowland Scotland steeped in History, from Celtic / Pictish stones to ,battlefields such as Bannockburn and Castles, Stirling , Edinburgh , Dollar, Doune , the green rolling Ochil hills all within a short drive. Very much Central in Scotland, a great touring base.
Your apartment is next door to where Dudley D. Watkins the creator and artist of the famous Scottish cartoons OOR WULLIE and THE BROONS , spent his War years as a Special Constable , we muse on how often he would have gazed over wall into our garden, and dreamed the adventures of his famous folks.
The Kincardine on Forth area
Being on the edge of Fife we are close to many areas and sites of historical and natural beauty , the Fife coast with its quaint fishing villages and small sandy beaches .
Ancient towns like Dunfermline, Falkirk and Stirling , with their associations to Scottish heroes such as William Wallace and King Robert the Bruce.
Small gentle glens to walk through the Ochil hills , good trout and salmon fishing , and if you like a few shopping centres to stroll around if the need grabs you we have all the details here at hand .
The Falkirk wheel shows an example of modern Scotland with its incredible barge lifting gear on the Forth and Clyde canal.
A 40 minute drive to Edinburgh makes it easy to visit the EDINBURGH FESTIVAL and TATTOO etc , without the Edinburgh accommodation prices !
Like wise the Glasgow music and arts festivals.
We are only 20 minutes drive from KNOCKHILL Race course , where many Motorcycle and car races are held, so we offer a great place to stop over for Bikers and Race enthusiasts.
Tulliallan 18 hole Golf course is within walking distance.
The Scottish Antiques Centre , Doune is a 20 minute drive away, as is Blairdrummond Safari Park.
A List of Local Tourist information leaflets are available at the property.
The owners will be more than happy to suggest local lesser known places to visit if required.
