The Donegal region

Donegal is bounded on the north and west by the Atlantic Ocean and inland by mountains and hills.

The region presents an ever-changing spectacle of landscapes and seascapes set against a backdrop of mountains and moors, with evidence everywhere of traditional Irish culture.

Donegal boasts a vast rugged coastline softened regularly by a succession of beautiful beaches with golden sand and clear fresh waters. Inland, Donegal is wild and unspoilt with winding roads leading to never-ending spectacular vistas.

In the area, Golfing and fishing are popular activities in County Donegal and there is no shortage of facilities available. Other major attractions include Glenveagh National Park and Castle, Tory Island, Glebe House and Gallery, Colmcille Heritage Centre, Fort Dunree Military Museum and Abbey Mill Wheels. Donegal also has some interesting archaeological sites around Ballyshannon, for example, you'll find ruined castles, religious sites and celtic raths.

Dunkineely is situated close to Donegal Bay in a very scenic area with grand coastal views, beautiful strands, coves and archaeological remains.

The village has a variety of shops , pubs and restaurants. Close by is St John’s Point ,an unspoilt peninsula of special natural beauty which is renowned for its scuba diving and has a fine coral beach.

"Great family atmosphere"

Just back from a 4 day break at Brock Cottage ,really enjoyed the cottage and full of rustic charm.
Loved the wood burning stove and waking up to sound of the sheep in nearby fields.
A lovely family atmosphere about the cottage , just a shame about the weather !
