About this location
Carmarthenshire is known as the Garden Of Wales because of it's gorgeous green countryside - but there's so much more to it. It has some of the most glorious sandy beaches in Europe, ancient castles to explore and plenty more to keep everyone entertained.
The ancient town of Kidwelly is a beautiful location with it's own 10th century castle. There are nearby beaches at Ferryside and over 10 miles of sandy beach only a couple of miles away at Cefn Sidan. One of the oldest pubs in Wales is only 1 minute walk away and the castle, nearest shop and tea rooms are all less than 5 minutes walk away. It is also an ideal location for Carmarthen and Llanelli towns, Aberglasney and National Botanic Gardens, Ffos Las Race Course, Pembrey Race Course, Pembrey Country Park and within easy reach of Pembrokeshire, Brecon Beacons and Gower Peninsula.

"Good, but not quite luxury"
Just returned from a week here, catching up with old friends. We were a group of 11 with 3 dogs. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to find the house sat on the main road through the town. When we rea… More
We were very disappointed to receive this review which has many inaccuracies. Dyffryn House is located on a B Road, not a main road, and it is well set back from the road with an established hedge and large front garden, and is on the outskirts of Kidwelly town in a beautiful location. The house is private and detached and the gravel which apparently cut these guests dogs paws was laid 9 years ago, is standard drive gravel and we have had tens of guests with dogs and never another complaint about this. The towels and bedding are all laundered in a washing machine then a tumble dryer and there were definitely no ear wigs present when the bedrooms were made up, we can only think that these guests hung their towels on the washing line whereby the earwigs came back in on them as they are present in the country at this time of year. Upon check in all guests are asked to contact us if there are any issues at all and we will always help if we can - had the issue of the bulbs, the sieve and the scales been mentioned at any point we would have visited and replaced all. We are sorry for any inconvenience these things caused but can assure all future guests there is a sieve and scales at the house again now and all bulbs are checked every week. There are plenty of sharp knives, there is a knife rack and many other knives loose in the cutlery drawer. We do a rigorous maintenance program at Dyffryn House which includes the house and garden, the cleaner checks the light bulbs every week and changes any that need doing and there are spares kept under the sink in the kitchen which are easy to find. I can only think the cleaner forgot to check on the particular week - from memory these guests arrived early and tried to gain entry before the cleaner had finished which may explain this. In response to the comments about our plant pots and garden - we are more than puzzled. Our gardener tends to all the pots every week, mows both lawns and strims the area by the washing line, which at certain times of day gets plenty of sunlight. The pots and planted flowers have bloomed beautifully throughout the summer. There are no large five foot weeds by the front door - there is a large 'pineapple' style tree, but that gets trimmed every season, and there is no bindweed anywhere. Regarding the comments about the en-suite this is entirely inaccurate, the house whilst traditional looking is a new build and only 9 years old, there is no damp smell in the en-suite or anywhere else in the house , and we can only suggest that these guests left damp towels or bath matts lying around that this was what caused any possible smell. I have carefully inspected the en-suite and am satisfied that it is in no way damp, is immaculate and the door latch works perfectly. If any guests considering booking would like to speak to me directly about any of the above the please do - we can put you in touch with many of our guests who return year after year and comment on how lovely the house, hot tub, and garden are and to what a high level we both clean and maintain the house. Thank you for taking the time to read our response to this review.
