Nice house with three bedrooms, new build, in very good condition for rent. The beach in Vonyarcvashegy is 10min walk away. There is the big town Keszthely with a nice palace "Festetics" and lots of shops, restaurants, museums and avenues & parks. Heviz, the thermal bath is 10 km away from the house. Beatutiful area with montains, the lake and a lots of greenery. The house is a non smoking house. No pets indoor.

The Transdanubia / Pannonia / Somogy/Lake Balaton region

Balaton is the biggest freshwather lake in Middle Europe. Beautiful area, nature reserve, with volcanic hills, vineyards, gentle villages. Wather sports avalibilties, fishing, long cyclinbg way around the Balaton lake. Keszthely as a city has a history for more than 750 years. What makes Keszthely the capital city of the Lake Balaton is its natural beauty, the immediate natural environment, with several centuries of cultural and scientific past, and its unequalled geographical position. The Festetics–Mansion, witch is the best reconstructed and furnished mansion in Hungary, with unique parks, and Museums, with the Balaton Theatre and Georgikon University Keszthely is truly the capital city of the lake Balaton. Keszthely has its famous baroque castle "Festetics", where excellent classical concerts are held. In the town there are museums, restaurants, shopping area. The thought of establishing a museum in the area of the lake Balaton first occoured in the last decade of the 19th century. The Balaton Museum Union was formed in June 1897.

The region lying west of Lake Balaton occupies a unique place on the map of Hungary. Being the part of an important region from the point of view of tourism, that of Balaton, it is a favourite destination for both Hungarian and foreign tourists. As for its climate, it is a pleasant place, it may have the most predictable climatic character, and rarely do we have unsettled weather. As for the features of the terrain - it is Hungary on a small scale as tourists can find here gentle hills, extended flat plains, rivers, lakes. The West-Balaton region offering so many pleasant features, it is easy and fast to get to the right spots, as all the traffic routes lead to the places where the curious visitor can find everything that interests him.

The first bath built on the water was finished in 1864. The first round bath island was built in the 1880s, which was enlarged to a bath of two islands with an ornamental entrance in 1893. Instead of renovation a new island bath was built of metal and concrete plates in 1960. During the past years the original wood structure was rebuilt on several phases. In the place of the Municipal beach of today there were reeds and landing stage of boats for hire even in the beginning of the 20th century. Today you can even use the wather ski or bach voly bal grund for sport activities.

Nearby in Heviz Spa the world-famous natural medicinal waters can be tried to help aches and pains, just 10min by car from the house.

Keszthely / Vonyarcvashegy area

Vonyarcvashegy is a villige very close to Keszthely (5km), the main town on this North side of the lake Balaton.

How to get there

You can fly straight to Balaton with Ryan Air, there is the Airport Sarmellek 15km away from the house. Car hire is easy and well-priced at this airport by Hertz - about £14 a day. If you fly to Budapest Airport Ferihegy you can take a train, I recomended IC train from Deli Train Station in Budapest wich are very fast and comfortable and you will arrive at Keszthely train station, there you can hire a car or take a taxi. (There are more companies to hire a car: www.evip.hu/rentacar or http://www.kor-auto.hu) There is some line bus from Budapest Nepliget direkt to Vonyarcvashegy as well.
