Our family run holiday cottage situated in the popular lakeland town of Keswick is ideal for exploring the delights of the Lake District. The house is within walking distance to the main high street with a diverse selection of restaurants, pubs and bakeries to choose from. There is also a great selection of shops from specialized walking and climbing to old fashion sweet shops. Meander through the town and you will reach the shores of Derwent Water where you can take a cruise, hire your own rowing boat or just seat and appreciate the views of the lakeland fells.
Our cosy bungalow boasts views of the fells of Skiddaw, Latrigg and Blencathra and has a generous plot with large private driveway. The garage is also handy for storing bikes or even the car. The house benefits from a large garden, great for the children and large patio areas which are ideal for taking in a warm summers afternoon.
The house comprises of two bedrooms- a double with feature metal frame bed and radio alarm clock and a large twin with views to the hills and a great DAB radio. The modern fitted kitchen with all you need to prepare your own meals and spend less time tidying with our dishwasher. The recently refurbished bathroom benefits from a bath and shower and smart white bathroom suite. The lounge provides seating for four and has an electric flame effect fire, perfect for a cuddling up in front of the 32 inch Led tv and DVD player. The dining table for four is also situated in the lounge. Gas, central heating and double glazing throughout means the house is great all year round.
Included in the rental is the use of Keswick Leisure pool and gym. The pool is great for children of all ages with the sloping beach area providing easy entry, a 30m water slide and wave machine. Also 15% off mountain bike hire and Cumbria's newest attraction Clip 'n Climb in Maryport.

The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District has many impressive mountains, open fells and beautiful lakes. The landscape has inspired several literary greats, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. You can cruise on a steam-powered yacht or walk the hills and valleys. There are simply so many great ways to explore the Lake District.
For the serious walker, the mountains of Skiddaw, Helvellyn or the highest peak in England, Scaffell Pike provide a great challenge. At lower levels there are hundreds of routes wandering among the lakes and
You can even choose a lake to suit your mood: if bustling lakeside towns and exhilarating watersports take your fancy, then Windermere, Derwent Water and Coniston Water will suit. If it’s peace and tranquility you seek then the secluded lakes of Buttermere and Wastwater are not to be missed. Yet Cumbria offers much more than the lakes alone. Explore the National Nature Reserve on Walney Island or visit the picturesque Duddon Valley, where the heather clad moors peppered with birch trees inspired many of Wordsworth’s poems.
There are a variety of castles, old statley homes and interesting Slate buildings accross the area. You can even visit a working Slate mine and learn how the process begins. Whinlatter and Grizdale forrests are great for mountain biking and walking, you can even Go Ape and climb through the trees. To the east lies the green and sheltered Eden Valley. Its dramatic landscape provides a range of activities including walking, cycling and watersports making for a perfect family day out.
Keswick just 20 minutes from junction 40 on the M6, is easily accessed down the A66 driving right in to the heart of the Lake District. Breathtaking scenary surrounds this popular Lakeland town. Situated on the shores of Derwent Water and close to both Basinthaite and Ullswater. There are some great walks great family hills like Catbells or challenging peaks like Skidaw one of the highest in the Lake Districk.
There are many nearby attractions and extensive aray of lakes and fells to explore. Vist Whinlatter forest where you can walk,bike or even climb through the trees. Go Ape is great for a challenge. View the only pair of Osprays in England which nest in the trees around Bassinthaite. On a wet day The Rheged visitors centre 15 minutes down the road is great with shops, cafes, children play area and I-max cinema. Keswick Golf course just a short drive away boasts 18 holes in the most beautiful surrounding shadowed by the impresive slopes of Blencathra. Finally for the adventurous, Rookin House which is on the way to keswick, offers outdoor pursuits such as karting, quad biking and archery. Also Honistor Slate mine adventure capital of the Lake District. Scale the rock face of the famous Fleetworth Pike or explore the mine shafts deep into the mountain itself.
There is plenty of choice when it comes to eating out with a great selection on the doorstep within walking distance. There is varity of restaurants, hotels and lots of great pubs serving home cooked food and lakeland ale. Fish and chips are a firm favourite or why not vist one of Keswicks bakeries.

"Excellent Location, good facilities"
I stayed here over Easter with my wife and two kids. It's located very close to the towncentre of Keswick and park which has a play area for the children. The main bedroom has plently of room and the kitchen has enough room and utensiles to cook. The garage is handy for storage of bikes. Wifi and clothes washing facilities would be nice, but not essential.
Thank you so much for the feedback we are in the process of improving the cottage and hope that you will visit again soon. WIFI is a great idea, so maybe later on in the year we will think about putting it in. We were also thinking about putting a washer machine in instead of the dishwasher as we have limited space.

The guest book is coming we just ran out of time, as mention this is the first year so we are updating and improving the house all the time. Wifi is another good idea but may have to be next year will keep you posted..
