Braithwaite is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding mountains, rivers and lakes. Whether it be mountainous walks along the fells including Cat Bells and Causey Pike, gentle strolls around Bassenthwaite and Derwent Water or paddling and picnicking in the Newlands Valley, all are easily reached on foot from the village.

Rising above Braithwaite is Whinlatter forest with it's numerous mountain bike trails and high ropes course (Go Ape). Braithwaite has it's own village shop selling a comprehensive range of goods. There are two pubs in Braithwaite, The Royal Oak and The Coledale Inn, both serving good food and fine ales and a restaurant, The Ivy House.

Keswick is within walking distance or a 5 minute drive where there are further pubs and restaurants as well Booths supermarket. Keswick is a hub of outdoor activity and there is something to do for everyone in the local area. Cockermouth, the home of Wordsworth, is a 15 minute drive and while you are there it's well worth paying a visit to the Jennings Brewery

Applegarth is situated over 3 floors. Enter the house through the porch with an original mosaic tiled floor.

The sitting room has comfortable seating for 12, a widescreen TV and DVD player, an original attractive Victorian marble open fire and through it's large bay window has wonderful views of the Lakeland fells.

The dining room is large and comfortably sits 12 people around it's table. The kitchen is well equipped with Range Cooker, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and storage.

From the kitchen is the uti lity room with fridge freezer, tumble drier, storage for coats and boots and a separate WC with wash hand basin.

The first floor has a Master bedroom, a double room and a bunk room with a set of adult bunk beds all of which have wash hand basins. The Master bedroom has an original feature fire place with attractive tiled inset and dual aspect windows with commanding views of Skiddaw and Latrigg. There is a bathroom with separate WC.

Stairs lead to the second floor with three further bedrooms. A double bedroom with en-suite shower room, WC and basin and two twin bedrooms one of which has a zip and link bed which can be made into a double on request. Just off the landing is a second sitting room/games room with sofabed, bean bags, TV and a Nintendo Wii. This can be used as an additional bedroom with prior permission to allow the house to sleep 14. A shower room with basin and WC can be found on this floor.

Further details outdoors

The spacious garden has fabulous views of Causey Pike, Scar Cragg and Barrow. An orchard lies beyond with apple and pear trees and is an ideal place for exploring or some quiet reflection. Unfortuantely we can't allow dogs into the orchard.

The Lake District is the jewel in the crown of the English National Parks with beautiful lakes, impressive mountains and tranquil rivers this is an area of England to be visited by everyone and once you've been you'll be sure to come back.

"Well appointed and in ideal location fo walking"

This house is less than 2 miles out of Keswick and the town is easily walkable, or there is a bus hourly. The village of Braithwaite where the house is situated has 3 good pubs and a shop. We didn&… More
