Walkers will be spoilt for choice, with Skiddaw on one side, and Catbells on the other, along with walks from the doorstep on Maiden Moor, Dale Head, Grisdale Pike and Causey Pike to name but a few. With its wonderful position, mature gardens, and easy access to Keswick and the Lakes, this is a wonderful location for a family holiday

The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District National Park is renowned as one of the most beautiful places .... Keswick is a small market town in the North Lakes and has all facilities and attractions you'd expect; It has a wonderful theatre and lovely parks, a fine museum, a leisure pool as well as a market and supermarkets.


The Newlands Valley links the village of Braithwaite with Buttermere. There are very fine walks straight onto the fells from the property so no need to take the car all the time .. big walks, high walks, low walks , valley river walks, walks to tea shops, walks to lakes.

Whinlatter is nearby and as well as a Go-Ape has an extensive cycling path network catering for all levels.

within a couple of miles are a marina (offering canoe, boat hire) and Newlands Adventure Centre for Ghyll Scrambling, Climbing etc.

The views from StoneyAcre are spectacular and take in Skiddaw, Blencathra, Helvellyn, Catbells, and Causey Pike.

"Superb accommodation, excellent location and perfect host"

This accommodation was a great find - a really lovely location with spectacular views and all home comforts. Very well appointed property - our family thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. The host, David was very accommodating and even provided tea & cake on our arrival- most welcome after a long drive.

We really cannot fault this property and are very happy to recommend it- we will certainly be coming back!

"Great location - super view"

Our third stat in this great family accommodation - suited all ages from grandparents to children. Excellent location - easy access to Buttermere, Western Fells, Keswick and Borrowdale. Super views of Cat Bells from main living areas. Comfy furnishings with lots of space. Recent refurbishment has improved accommodation. Owner very friendly, helpful and approachable. Good value for money compared to other cottages we have visited in the Lake District.

"What a find- so good we have already booked for two weeks next year"

A well equipped base in a great area with a splendid view [Skiddaw, Blencathra .Walla Crag and Cat Bells] Mountains to look at - or climb , and lots of narrow lanes to explore.
Well situated within easy reach of Keswick , but equally within reach of quiet countryside .
Large kitchen /dining area with excellent views through patio doors onto verandah
Exceptionally large and comfortable lounge
Many large photo pictures on the walls - and even outside a couple of windows ! To be seen to be understood!! The sheep is very realistic.
We were just a couple , but plenty of room for a family, though we did not rattle around and found it very homely
Very friendly and helpful owner on site . Three other "cottages" all developed from an old hotel An excellent place . We feel lucky to have found it

"Stoney Acre best base camp for exploring the Lakes"

We visited the Lake District the last three years and we kept coming back to Stoney Acre. In the future, undoubtedly, we will return to The Lakes and, again undoubtedly, we will return to Stoney Acre. A lovely appartment in the Newlands, near Keswick. A perfect accomodation, well furnished, very comfortable, very quiet, in the middle of superb nature, at the foot of Causey Pike and the pub Swinside Inn at walking distance! What more could you possibly want?
Located near Keswick, this most agreeable accomodation is indeed the perfect starting point for exploring the Lakes, whether by car, bike or on foot.
