The Island of Gozo region

This quiet, tiny Maltese island only 9 miles by 5, stands south of Sicily in the heart of the Med.The 13 villages, with fort-like limestone buildings, are all dominated by large churches. Victoria, the capital, boasts a wonderful citadel, daily market, shops, fish vendor & busy cafes. The island has a variety of pretty beaches and coves, and is ideal for diving and snorkelling. The history of Gozo from its prehistoric temples, attacks by the Turks & Arabs, through French & British rule, together with its geological features & wonderful climate make this island a unique holiday destination.
The Kercem area
Kercem is a quiet, rural farming village, close to the capital, Victoria, and is easily accessible to all parts of the island. It is surrounded by open farmland and many churches.
The main feature of this village is it's striking church. Kercem is also home to the islands best bakery, and has a grocery shop, butchers, and pharmacy.
Nothing is Gozo is far to get to. The pretty beaches, the capital, and other sleepy villages are all easliy accessible. There are many tourist attractions including a neolithic temple, an exceptional craft village, the citidel itself and "the Gozo experience" tour. The beautiful and countless churches are also amazing and are worth some time to explore. One little village is the home to a church that is bigger than Staint Pauls Cathedral!
Gozo also has countless restaurants. Whatever you fancy from sophisticated, to casual, fish to pizza there are many to choose from.
The local people are welcoming and relaxed. Gozo is a fantastic location for families and couples, in fact anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing break on a beautiful island!

We booked Gizimina Farmhouse for a relaxing family holiday at the start of September. All I can say is that the Farmhouse really does look exactly like the photo's on the website. We wanted to unwind in a quiet villa with a touch of luxury and Gizimina really did live up to our expectations. From the beautiful courtyard swimming pool to the home comforts in the kitchen. The farmhouse has clearly been recently renovated and to a very high degree. The kitchen facilities were fantastic with everything that you would need to enjoy family meals around the large communal table or outside near the pool. As we had small children with us we made the most of the pool and BBQ facilities. Little extras like Satellite TV and a welcome pack really did make a difference along with the very thorough Guide (bible) to the farmhouse and Gozo, we tried quite a few of the recommended restaurants. We would definitely consider booking Gizimina again and will recommend it to our friends. |
Guestbook for Gizimina
A lovely farmhouse, The pictures do not do it justice, we had an amazing two weeks at Gizimina and would love to go back! It was wonderful!
Everyone in Gozo is so friendly and helpful, it's an amazing island!
And the fact that you are staying in this amazing farmhouse makes it all perfect, It's ideal for a family with young kids. The pool is lovely and my 3 year old could not stay out of it, an excellent holiday in an excellent farmhouse, Highly Recommended!
We have just spent two fantastic weeks in this beautiful farmhouse. Renovated with style, the photographs on the website don't do it justice. The rooms are airy with lots of space, especially the kitchen which has definitely got the wow factor! The views from the bedrooms are breathtaking. We would certainly recommend this farmhouse to anyone visiting Kercem. The island of Gozo is a beautiful island to visit with naturally friendly people. Thank you to Paula and her family for making our stay really special.
"Beautiful house in a peaceful location!" The owners have thought of everything. Even their directory of things to do and places to eat is extremely comprehensive."
"Unlike any other Gozo farmhouse we have ever stayed in. This house is modern, light, clean and fresh. You can tell that it has only recently been refurbished as everything is new!"
"Just to say we had a wonderful time last week at Gizimina, nice and spacious for my three lads, i thought it was very well designed and in such a very rural and quiet area, we also fell lucky with Festas and on going fireworks with a great front seat view from the back balcony!"
"We had a fantastic holiday in Gozo and at Gizimina. Kercem is excellently located and was a delight, with lovely sea views from the tops of the cliffs. We divided our time between sightseeing by car, walking, cycling, swimming in the pool, and relaxing and reading by the pool. The house is lovely and had lots of room for our quite large party of seven people. It's great having the two courtyards to move between and the massive farmhouse kitchen is beautiful as is the rest of the house. We found the information/visitors' book helpful, and thank you also for the very generous welcome pack provided on our arrival."
"We were anticipating something rather special after viewing photos on the property website, and were pleasantly surprised to find that it more than lived up to our high expectations. The house comes supplied with all the mod cons, from a washing machine to a pasta server! It was great to have our own pool, so that we could go for a swim whenever we felt like it. If you want a relaxing holiday, this is the place to be, and Gizimina is the best property to stay in. Take it from me!"
"The pictures on your site simply don't not do this beautiful house justice, light and airy, and very spacious, there was nothing more you could have thought of in this perfect family home. The pool was perfect for cooling off, and with 7 of us, we spent plenty of time each day playing beach volleyball. Set in a lovely tranquil part of Gozo, yet easily accessible to all areas, we made the most of your recommendations and visited several beaches and restaurants. The local bakery and supermarkets were superb, as were the recommended coffee shops. We all agreed we want to come back soon, only next time for 2 weeks, not 1. Thankyou. Mark & Maxine Barratt
