Inchimore Farm
About the home
The farmhouse stands in over 50 acres of pasture, native woodland and natural habitat at the top of the Slaheny Valley. About 20 minutes walk away is our lake (1000ft x 600ft), surrounded by an additional 50 acres of forests and pasture. The farm was unoccupied for about 20 years, allowing the flora and fauna to flourish undisturbed. It is therefore a paradise for anyone who wants complete tranquillity. An impressive array of wild flowers start to open in April joined by numerous bluebells most years in May
Have you ever thought of trying "The Good Life" for yourselves? By booking the farm for a longer period you would have the chance to find out if a farmer's life is really the life for you. Just give us a call to personalise your rural experience.

Further details indoors:
The traditional 2 bedroom farmhouse accommodation has been extended by a large kitchen (11.5m x 8.5m) with big windows giving superb views up and down the valley. This is where you will find everybody congregates. A Rayburn range heats the central heating in winter and provides extra cooking facilities if required. Oil filled electric radiators are available all year round. There is a gallery above the kitchen with double and single blow-up mattresses and double and single sleeping bags.
The lounge features a huge open log fire. Across from the house, upstairs in the dairy there is another double bed. By the addition of several mattresses and a cot this would provide a big family room or a dormitory for several older children - like camping but with the comfort of being indoors.
Further details outdoors:
Swing ball and other outside games are available.
If you come by car you might like to bring your own blow-up boat for use on our lake.
A bird table and bird feeders ensure a good variety of local birds are easily visible from the kitchen or lounge windows.
A pool outside the kitchen area is suitable for sailing model boats.
Further details
There is no mobile phone signal at the house, but you can normally get a signal about half way up the drive. You will be able to use the landline for local calls only, so it would be a good idea to bring an international phone card with you. These are available at the village shop.
You would be welcome to pick herbs or fruit in season and we can usually supply vegetables and meat at reasonable prices grown on our other farm in the next valle,y which is in conversion to organic farming.
Conditions
As this is a working farm with sheep, with other sheep farms in the locality, the suitability for your pet would need to be discussed. There is a €30/pet charge to cover additional cleaning requirements. No pets are allowed upstairs nor in the bedrooms.
We do not allow smoking inside the house.
If because of the fluctuating exchange rate the amount you have paid before your arrival is less than the advertised rate you will be liable for the difference on arrival. Similarly, if the exchange rate means you have paid more than the advertised rate you will be refunded the difference on arrival.
A refundable deposit of €100 is required on arrival for breakages, extra cleaning etc We would not normally charge for small breakages if they were notified before your departure.

The County Kerry region

Whatever sort of holiday you are planning, Co. Kerry has something to offer - spectacular scenery including the highest mountain in Ireland, friendly people, exciting and interesting festivals, water sports, sandy beaches, walking, climbing, caves, stone circles, historic sites, a huge variety of restaurants, live music or the total tranquillity of secluded valleys where the silence and no light pollution make you think you are in another world.
Kerry has its own airport at Farranfore, just 15km outside Killarney with flights by Aer Arann and Ryanair from several airports in the United Kingdom and Europe.
The Kenmare / Kilgarvan area
Kilgarvan - our village - is 10km from our farm. Here you will find two village stores, one with a post office and filling station. The Village Grill provides basic meals and takeaways and there are six pubs, some with live music. The annual music festival in June and the Kilgarvan Annual Fair in August are the highlights of the village year.
Kilgarvan Church celebrated its centenary in 2008. Kilgarvan Motor Museum has a wide and interesting range of old cars and hosts car rallies.
A further 10km away is the delightful market town of Kenmare - 2008 winner of the fiercely contested Tidy towns Competition. There are regular cattle and sheep markets and a weekly general market with delectable French delicatessen and lots of bric-a-brac.
The brightly coloured main streets of the town offer an enticing variety of clothes, craft and gift shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, modern internet facilities, a post office and many pubs and restaurants with live music to get your feet tapping. Several interesting historical sites can be found in and near the town.
The Tourist Information Centre will be happy to provide more information or direct you to the Heritage Centre where you can see the famous Kenmare Lace made and hear how it came to be in the town. Just outside the town is the moving Famine Grave.
