The County Kerry region
Co Kerry is known as the Kingdom for good reason. It has some of the most breathtaking scenery in Ireland. Visitors can drive the world-famous Ring of Kerry or explore the lesser-know Ring of Beara. Kerry is home to the MacGillicuddy Reeks, Ireland's highest mountain range so walking and climbing is popular. The Killarney Lakes and National Park are rich with heritage and scenery and there are good walking routes. Places to see include Dereen Gardens, Gleninchaquin Waterfall, the Black Valley and Torc Waterfall, all of which are within an easy drive of Wheatfield.
Kenmare / Muckera area
Wheatfield is situated on the Ring of Beara, 10km from the heritage town of Kenmare. Nearby attractions include Dereen Gardens, Gleninchaquin Waterfall, Star Sailing and Outdoor Adventure Centre. There is horse riding nearby and sailing and diving in Killmacillogue Harbour. There is excellent fishing, river lake and sea.
How to get there
Visitors can fly in Kerry Airport (60km), Cork (90km) or Dublin airports. There are ferry ports at Dublin, Dun Laoighre and Rosslare. Car hire is available from all major airports and also in Killarney which is 44km away.

Further details indoors: Wheatfield has 3 double bedrooms, two share a bathroom and one is en-suite. The large kitchen has a wood burning stove, dining area and two comfy sofas. A wrap-round conservatory fills the back of the house. At the front of the house a large studio sitting room with floor to ceiling windows gives views across the bay. The house has broadband and there is a working computer with games, music as well as internet access. Wheatfield's owners live adjacent to the house and are always on hand for advice if needed.
Further details outdoors: Outside, Wheatfield has a large mature garden. There is a lawn with seating, BBQ and flower beds. Visiting children can use the play set with swings, sand box and slide. The family goat provides great fun for children and adults.
