The County Kerry region
County Kerry is situated in the extreme south-west of Ireland and traditionally known as the 'Kingdom'. It has deep blue lakes, wild mountainous landscapes, rugged coastline and sub-tropical flora.
There are many attractions within easy reach of Kenmare which include Killarney National Park, the Lakes of Killarney and Muckross House and Gardens. Visitors have the opportunity to tour the world famous Ring of Kerry or discover the beautiful unspoiled and lesser-known Beara Peninsula.
The Kenmare area
The town of Kenmare is located beside the sea and nestled among the mountains of Cork and Kerry, it is also proud of its Irish name “Neidin” meaning little nest. Kenmare is a picturesque town yet along with its beautiful scenery it also caters for the golfer, equestrian, cyclist, artist, hillwalker and also for those interested in fishing, seafari trips and watersports.
Kenmare has many individual shops to explore and it is considered a haven for gourmet food with a number of Michelin restaurants in the area. There is a weekly farmers market on a Wednesday. At night many of the pubs have live traditional Irish music.
The holiday home is situated on the Killowen road, the R569. The property is just a 10 minute walk from the town with Kenmare golf course and playing fields within close proximity.
During the summer months the horse and pony fair, many triathlons, rowing regattas, traditional Irish music weekends and "The 15th" of August traditional fair takes place in the area.
