The County Kerry region
Kenmare is a picturesque town with the Atlantic Ocean at it's feet and is known locally as Neidin which means "Little Nest". Killarney is to the north, a short drive to Muckross house and the Lakes of Killarney and the Beara Peninsula is to the south. It has much to offer with its many award winning restaurants and fine pubs.
Kenmare area
Kenmare is on the Ring of Kerry, with many places to explore. For walkers, there is the Kerry Way and the Beara Way. If golf is your sport, Kenmare boasts two excellent 18-hole courses and courses in Killarney and Glengarriff mean you will never be short of a game. There are also excellent water sport facilities and horse riding nearby. We are happy to give you help and advice on what to visit in the area. Kilgarvan, a rural village where you meet the real locals, is home to Ardtully Castle and has excellent walking trails. Fishing is available nearby.
How to get there
Kenmare is easily accessible by road, rail or air. Fly to Cork, Shannon or Kerry airports and then by hire car – all the major companies hire from all Ireland's main airports. Alternatively with own car via the ferry ports at Rosslare and Dublin. There is a main line train station in Killarney and a good nation-wide bus service in operation. Buses run into Kenmare daily, monday to friday only.
