The County Kerry region
Kerry's lakes, mountains and rugged coastline has given it the reputation as being one of the most scenic places in Ireland.
Kenmare sits at the mouth of Kenmare Bay, and is where the internationally famous Ring of Kerry meets the less well known but beautifully rugged Ring of Beara.
Killarney national park with 10,000 hectares of woodland, waterfalls and walks lies to the north of Kenmare.
Kenmare or as it is called in Gaelic, "Neidin" translates to mean Little Nest and describes it's cosy setting, nestling between the mountains of Cork and Kerry.
Kenmare bay offers water sports and cruising through local operators.
There are two 18 hole golf courses in Kenmare, and numerous other world class courses in Kerry. The Irish Open was staged in Killarney (only 20 minutes by car) in 2010 and 2011.
Faungorth activity centre which is only a five minute walk from Roughty Bridge House offers numerous activities including pitch and putt, driving range, archery and other activities.

"Superb tranquil location with a wonderful family to look after you"
beautiful scenery, tranquil location and a wonderful family to look after you. All you'd expect in ireland. We immediately booked for the next year. We were two young families and the house had more than enough space for the nine of us. We loved the walks along the estuary into town and i particularly like the run into town and back along the estuary. kenmare is beautiful and this is wonderful place to visit it from. See you in october!

"Relaxing at Roughty Bridge House"
I would like to advise all who need a getaway from it all, to take time out and stay at the Roughty bridge lodge. You will not find a more perfect surrounding if you wish to melt into the Irish countryside. This lodge is a couple of miles outside the lovely Market town of Kenmare, At Kenmare night life is u to you, Irish music abounding in most pubs and good food all around.
This place is secluded, has plenty of space in the accommodation for the entire family or you can just spend time with the wife and live in half the house. The view is fantastic, don't be put off by the large accommodation if you are a small group. Relax away from the world and stroll along surrounding country lanes overlooking Kenmare sound, and further towards the bay area, you need a car for sight seeing and lots to see if you like the countryside and the waterside. Nights in in front of the log fire, logs and peat all supplied by the owners who are there around the corner to help if required. Nellie and Peter thanks for a great break.
A great holiday.
