Location

This romantic Lake District cottage in the Lyth Valley is ideally placed for a peaceful retreat. But the location is far from inconvenient; nestled in the village of Crosthwaite you are only a few hundred yards from one of the finest Lake District pub restaurants, The Punch Bowl Inn & Restaurant. You'll soon see why Crosthwaite's village church is a sought-after location for weddings in the Lake District. A few miles along country roads, and you'll reach Bowness and Lake Windermere, and the main A591 route leading you on to other popular areas such as Ambleside, Grasmere and beyond. From Bowness you can also take a car-ferry crossing to reach Hawkshead.

A Lyth Valley holiday cottage places you at the heart of one of the Lake District's most scenic areas of countryside. The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District is a place like no other. No other region in the world is so packed with such varied and stunning scenery in such as small area– and it's all on your doorstep with easy access by car or rail. The choice of outdoor activities is endless with some of the best walks, climbs and bike rides in the world, beautiful lakes for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing or just a cruise one of several ferry services. The National Park itself encompasses soaring mountains, native woodland (you might see a red squirrel!), lush meadows and of course the many famous lakes themselves. Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin and many more have been inspired by the Lake District and made their homes here. The homes are still here and open to visit and they too are surrounded by majestic mountain panoramas. There also some surprises – kids will love attractions such as the giant i-max screen at Rheged Visitor Centre, Go Ape aerial activities in Grizedale Forest and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. And where better to stay than a classic Lakeland Cottage. Lakelovers have over 400 properties in prime locations within the heart of the Lakes and we specialise in hand-picked properties that we know you'll love. Whether you want a grand property for a family gathering or a cosy bolt hole for two we can't wait to show you what we have for you to choose from. We know The Lakes inside out and we are just a click of a mouse or a phone call away.
