The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Brockholes Farm is one mile from Tebay which lies in the upper Lune Valley surrounded by the beautiful and undiscovered open hills of the Howgill Fells. The spectacular scenery here is extremely popular with those wishing to escape the often busy areas of the Lake District but still want a challenging fell walk. And with stunning views to envy any of those in the Lakes its surprising this set of fells remain so undiscovered. Sedbergh which is a short drive from Tebay sits at the foot of the Howgills. The town is famous for its numerous book shops and fantastic fell walks visiting some of Wainwrights favourite areas including to the summit of The Calf, and to Cautley Spout, the highest waterfall above ground in the whole of England.
