Home description

Lammerside is a cosy and luxuriously furnished older property in Kendal town centre. A car parking permit is provided for parking nearby.You can walk to the sights, shops and restaurants. You can study the menus of many of the local restaurants and "take aways" in a guide provided. You will be amazed at the choice of eateries which are of good quality and value. You will probably decide to do little cooking yourself on holiday!

The Cumbria/Lake District

Kendal is the southern gateway to the Lake District an area of outstanding beauty. There is an amazing choice of good quality and value restaurants and "take aways" in the immediate vicinity of the cottage. Here you will find stunning lakes and mountains for climbers, fellwalkers and ramblers. Motorists too can explore the interior of the area as there is a good road network. Great care has been taken to preserve the countryside and you will see many houses,farms and other buildings which have not changed over a long period. Beatrix Potter who wrote and illustrated books for children lived near to Windermere and William Wordsworth the poet and writer lived in Grasmere. There is much history to delve into and museums to visit within the Lake District National Park. The Yorkshire Dales are also nearby providing a different type of terrain with caves, moors and quaint towns and villages to explore


Kendal area

Kendal has a good selection of shops and has attractive walks along the River Kent which flows through the centre. It has old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the the attractive main street. The ruins of Kendal castle rises on a hill just out of the town. The Abbot Hall Art Gallery contains paintings and sculptures including landscapes by Turner and Ruskin. The Brewery Arts Centre offers a range of entertainments-films,festivals and concerts. Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life are worth visiting. Kendal is ideally situated for excursions to the Yorkshire Dales as well as the Lake District


How to get there

By rail Oxenholme Lake District station is 2 miles from property location on the West line rail route between London and Glasgow.

By road leave Junction 36 of the M6 motorway joining the A591 and leave after a few miles to enter Kendal town centre from the South.

There is gas fire in the living room with a comfortable sofa for two and a separate armchair. A 20 inch LCD Television offers good picture quality. There is a small library of books for holiday reading. Outside there is a secluded communal shared courtyard where you can relax on sunny days.

Lammerside Cottage was built around 1800 and is one of five terraced properties situated in an old part of the town centre of Kendal. It is close to the shops,restaurants and other facilities of Kendal which is the southern gateway to the Lake District National Park. The Brewery Arts Centre and Cinema offers an exciting programme of events throughout the year. Kendal Museum and Abbot Hall with its fine art gallery are worth visiting. There are pleasant walks along the River Kent which flows through Kendal and to the Castle on a hill with panoramic views of the town, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Changeover is normally on Saturdays. Bookings are normally for a minimum stay of one week from April to October.
