We certainly aren't short of outdoor activities here in the Hunsruck, whether you are more inclined towards a gentle stroll or after something more energetic, you'll find it here.

Pull on some boots and head off into the Hunruck to discover the beauty of the area. Three routes start direct from the village, including the fascinating “historischer Lehrpfad, covering three thousand years of history, in 3.5KM.

Where there is good walking, there is always good cycling. Hunsruck is no exception, with two cycle routes running through Kempfeld. We also recommend the Hunsruck cycleway, for a real overview of what the area has to offer.

Want to get wet? You can get outdoors and enjoy the delights of Rhaunen Freibad, which is a short bus ride away, or if you are looking for somewhere indoors, head to the Hallenbad in Ider-Oberstein.

Fancy a quick round of golf, near Frankfurt-Hahn Airport, you'll find an enjoyable 9 hole course, which is open to the public. In addition, there is a golf school at the club located at the course.

If you fancy shaking things up a bit, why not get into the tree tops, in nearby Kell am See, where you can play at being Tarzan and swing through the trees! You'll find an even more challenging tree top climb centre in Erbeskopf.

Here in Hunsruck, we are able to offer you skiing at Erbeskopf, with three pistes for Alpine skiers and two langlauf routes (6,4km and 8km) for cross country skiiers.

Further a field but within easy reach, at the Winter Sports Centre Monschau, you will find four pistes and a langlauf route.

"Great Fun in Kempfeld"

I spent a long weekend in Kempfeld at this newly refurbished property and I had a great time. The house was very clean and well equipped for a self catering holiday, we happened to be in the village when the annual fete was on and we mixed with the locals, a very friendly bunch and I had the chance to practice my rusty German. The village is close to many places of interest, like beautiful Trier, Koblenz a bit further afield, and the idyllic Traben-Trarbach, lot of wine to enjoyed too in the Mosel valley, so there is something for everyone.

"A fantastic house in a beautiful location with wonderful views!"

We booked this house for a family gathering, there was plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was really well equipped, everywhere was spotlessly clean.
Recently renovated so the decor was lovely, large rooms and the washing machine came in handy!
Lovely walks right outside your doorstep also popular with cyclists. Supermarkets were a nearby drive away and there was a bakery and interesting bar in the village.
Defiantly plan to return in the near future!
Excellent communication with James and the locals were very friendly.
Car hire was reasonable and the house was easy to find
