Chalet Tahtali

About the home
Chalet Tahtali is a cosy mountain style villa, located in a unique natural setting within easy access of: the main road, several great beaches, the local mountain ranges, local markets and shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a perfect location for: sun seekers, walkers and hikers, general tourists and those seeking a tranquil retreat in a natural panoramic setting. It is also an ideal base for serious climbers wanting to tackle nearby Mt Tahtali (2635m) in any season. Its peaceful and unique forest location provides a relaxing holiday refuge for those who prefer some privacy and the advantages of ‘living in your own home’ while on holiday.
The large swimming pool has amazing mountain and sea views and allows you to relax, sunbathe and swim only 25 metres from the house. Some visitors find it hard to leave the poolside, while others split their time between pool and sea. Even after a hot day at a local beach its great to unwind and cool down with a swim in the fresh water. While the pool is shared with other units it’s always accessible and available (between mid May and end October).
Your villa is within 10 minutes drive of Tekirova, a small beach resort village with a public beach, within 15 minutes of the well known Cirali/Olympus beach and villages, and 15 minutes to Kemer, the nearest and largest resort town in the region which has all amenities: shops, supermarkets, hospitals, cafes and restaurants and a picturesque (but busy) beach and marina. For the outdoor, energetic people you are on the doorstep of the Lycian Way ( a well known mountain and coastline trek following ancient by ways) and within easy access to mountain and forest walking and hiking destinations. For those who like to visit historic sites there are many points of interest within 30 minutes to 2 hours drive by car.
The views from the house are special! The mountains and forest can be viewed from many parts of the house and the sea from the upstairs window and front balcony. The balconies are ideal for dining al fresco, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner under the gaze of Mt Tahtali and tall forest trees. There are two barbeque's, a portable one which can be used in your location of choice and a fixed, dedicated one in a garden patio area.
Because the weather is consistently warm and hot between March and November, it’s possible to barbecue for nine months of the year. Inside the villa there is a fully functional kitchen with an electric oven, gas hobs and large fridge. ( No microwave or dishwasher yet).
You will enjoy bartering for fresh food produce at the local markets and returning home to cook a meal of your choice. Catered, home cooked Turkish food can be arranged if desired and there are at least 4-5 cafes/restaurants within 10 -15 minutes drive.
Chalet Tahtali is truly a ‘holiday home for all seasons’ and suitable for families, groups of friends or couples. The summer months, or ‘high season’ (June through September), are ideal for those who love the sun and water, hot daily temperatures, and who want to return home with a great suntan. The warm months, or ‘mid season’ are March, April, May and October, and provide warm, pleasant consistent weather. However it can rain sometimes in October and also May can be very warm! Its possible to swim in the sea from April to December and the pool is open between Mid May and end October. The mid season is ideal for day trips to the many close historic sites, walking and hiking in the mountains and general relaxation outdoors. Winter, or the ‘low’ season is November through February. These months are more suited to climbers wanting a winter climb, or those seeking to get away from the crowds for the solitude of winter mountain retreat. It can still be quite warm, especially in February when the daily temperature still gets up to +20!! December and January are when the rains come but it’s still possible to enjoy the environment during this period. Put a few logs on the fire and enjoy a romantic, candle lit dinner with your partner. Afterwards you can catch up on the news or watch a movie of your choice.
The house itself is one of many in a private complex. Its general design is plastered concrete with wooden floors and ceilings, giving a rustic look. It has 2 double bedrooms one bathroom and two toilets. The main living area comprises a kitchen, dining room/lounge with fireplace opening out onto a wrap around balcony with wonderful views. Downstairs there is a patio, lawn and another terrace/balcony.
Chalet Tahtali is truly a unique, tranquil, all season’s holiday destination based on your preferences – your home away from home!

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The city of Antalya is the gateway to southern Turkey and a region where the contrasts between old and new exist together in harmony. The region of Antalya is often referred to as the ‘Turkish Riviera’ because of its magnificent coastline, turquoise waters and many beaches. But it is not just a summer playground and the accessible mountain ranges and historic sites extend the scope of what the region has to offer. Historically the Antalya region consists of three former separate countries each with there own rich history: Lycia, Pisdia and Pamphylia. For those interested in the historic nature of the region you can do you own research and visit many fascinating sites during your visit, either on guided tours or by yourself.
The Kemer area
When To Come?
Clearly a part of this decision relates to your own personal situation, flexibility, family and business/work commitments, what you enjoy doing and when you holidays are due!
Summer - High Season(June, July, August and September)
Summers are long and hot. The hottest months are June, July and August. Temperatures range between 30 – 40 during the day and drop down to the high 20’s at night. Officially, summer really starts at the beginning of June and goes through until the end of September. This is the period for maximum exposure to the sun for sun tanning and swimming. In September, the mornings and evenings are cooler and the sun’s intensity is slightly less, but still expect over 30! The sun is up by 6.30am and falls away around 8pm.
Early Summer and Spring - Mid Season(March, April, May and October)
Spring is a lovely time to visit for those interested in nature, the mountains and walking or trekking. March and April are the spring months. Often mid to late May is the start of summer and people start swimming in May. The wild flowers are out and the birds around in numbers.October is often a few degrees cooler but a great month.
Autumn/Winter - Low Season (November, December, January and February)
Many people still swim in November and some in December. The daily temperatures are moderate, around 12 -18 and the nights are a little cooler. It’s a pleasant time of year and a good time to start lighting the fire at night.
In this region these months are very temperate. Winter is relatively short, normally January and February. This is when the rains come and of course the snow falls in the surrounding hills and on Mt Tahtali (2365m). The upper village (about 3 ks up the road) sometimes gets a sprinkling of snow but it normally stays above the tree line (2000m). Daily temperatures are around 10 and night times cooler. It can get down to zero but not much cooler. Light the fire and enjoy the New Year in the middle of nature!

| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Antalya International Airport: 70 km |
| Ferry: | Antalya: 70 km |
Fly direct to Antalya from most major UK airports in high and mid season on either schedule or charter flights with: Thomas Cook, Monarch, BA, Turkish Airlines and others.
• Check out www.skyscanner.net for comparative deals.
In low season you may need to fly via Istanbul, which is a good opportunity to spend a day or two checking out the famous historic sites in this fascinating city. Once landed in Antalya International Airport, getting here – is relatively easy, most guests arrange a rental car in advance to meet them at the airport.
• Our recommendation for car hire is www.cizgirentacar.com, a friendly and efficient local firm with very competitive rates.
You can also get here using public transport (taxis or minibus) but its more expensive, difficult and time consuming. Having said that the minibus only charges 8 lira from Antalya to the Beycik main road junction which is very good value, but you need to get into the city which is about 35/40 turkish lira by taxi. It’s approximately ; One and a half hours from the airport, one hour from the city of Antalya and an easy drive on a good, scenic coastal road. If you are traveling with a family during daytime hours there are many convenient places to stop for a rest and even a swim.
On your return, leave 2 hours to get to the airport, drop off your rental car and check-in.
