East Cottage @ Hendersyde Farm
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
East Cottage at Hendersyde Farm, downstream from the delightful market town of Kelso, in The Scottish Borders is a perfect place to relax & unwind, in peace and tranquillity.
East Cottage is one of a trio of traditional farm cottages, standing at the end of their own lane, on the first ridge above the River Tweed, where you'll be surrounded by walks, wildlife & wonderful views over The Tweed Valley to The Cheviot Hills in Northumberland!
You'll also be in a great position to explore both sides of the border. Walk the walks, golf the courses, cycle the side roads, fish the rivers, visit a host of historic buildings and just relax in a real home from home at Hendersyde! East Cottage has an out-house for storing bikes, golf clubs or fishing rods!
Fishing is in easy reach The River Tweed is only two fields away, golf courses abound in the Borders and there are a myriad of cycling and walking opportunities over hundreds of square miles of forests, woodland, heather-clad hills and 1,200 miles of quiet country roads to explore!
Our Hendersyde web site has ideas, inspiration about all the wonderful activities and places to visit in the area!
You'll not have to go far to discover both sides of the Border - the Coast, Country and charming Border towns such as Kelso, Melrose, Peebles and Berwick-upon – Tweed are easily reached along quiet country roads. You'll be close enough for a day in Edinburgh too!
Alnwick in Northumberland (where Harry potter was filmed!) is under an hour away too! There are also castles such as Floors, at Kelso and great houses like Traquair, Mellerstain, Abbotsford, the fairy-tale home of Sir Walter Scott to visit. Wonderful picnic spots command the most incredible views of the Tweed and Eildon Hills.
Or you could head to the stunning coastline, for miles of golden sands and secluded rocky coves that remain almost deserted, even in the summer months. Some of our favourite spots include the stunning beach at Bamburgh, miles of pristine sand, popular for walking, riding and surfing; the magnificent views from the cliff top walks at St Abb's Head and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne....the list goes on !
There are baskets of information, inspiration & routes to travel in the cottage, as well as the chance to use our web site as a guide - as Wi-Fi is included!!

The Scottish Borders region
Kelso just has to be one of Scotland's most attractive country towns! Sir Walter Scott certainly thought it ' the most beautiful if not the most romantic town in Scotland' ! His home, Abbotsford is not far away, near Melrose!
Standing at the junction of The Tweed and Teviot Water, Kelso's cobbled market square is surrounded by a great selection local shops, galleries, places to eat and delightful river side walks.
There's always a buzz about the town with a great variety of events at The Border Union Show Ground. Activities and attractions at Floors Castle, National Hunt Racing, Kelso Civic Week, musical gatherings and the farmers market.
Nearby golf courses abound! The Roxburghe Championship Course, Kelso Golf Course and Race Course are just at the end of the farm road! The Hirsel Course and Country Park are only 8 miles away, at Coldstream.
The Scottish Border country offers great opportunities to walk or ride this land of rivers and hills; stroll through glorious gardens such as Dawyck, Kailzie by Peebles, where Osprey are shown live on web-cam. Or pop over the border to visit Alnwick Castle and Gardens in Northumberland.
You can feel the history of castles, abbeys and great houses. Have a day in Edinburgh - or Newcastle.
Cycle quiet roads or hurtle down the mountain bike runs at Glentress, you'll certainly feel the glow!
From the stunning coast, St Abbs Head, Lindisfarne, The Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle, to the Border Hills, the space, light and views will take your breath away!
On a creative note - the Borders oozes creative talent! "Craftsmen" working with cashmere, wool, wood, glass, clay, metal, pencil and paint have found inspiration here. Over 80 local craft workshops, galleries and exhibitions welcome you! See the Crossing Borders link on our web site.
At the end of the day you can return to the warmth and comfort of Hendersyde, a genuine home from home!
