The Ionian Islands region

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian islands and has 3000 year old history back to the times of the Odyssey. Recent research points to the Paliki peninsula to the West of the island as being the Homiric island of
Ithaca. From the villa the beatiful resorts of Fiscardo, Assos Ayia Efimia to the North and Skala to the south can be reached within one hour drive. Melissani lake is only 30 minutes away. Argosotoli is a typical busy Greek town set by the bay of Goutavos and its port is regularly visited by large cruise ships throughout the year.
The climate is quite mild with temperatures averaging 26-32C during June to September.
The Kefalonia / Lakithra area
At the village of Lakithra you can visit Byron's Rock, a favoured spot for Lord Byron during his 4 month stay on the island before his eventual demise. He used to ride from the house he stayed at Metaxata village to Byron's
Rock on a daily basis. At Argostoli you can visit Katavothres, a word known phenomenon of water reaching from the East of the island and Melisani lake. The monastery of St. Yerasimos is located just 15minutes away near the village of Valsamata where twice a year, 16th August and 20th October there is a religous festival.
