The Ionian Islands region

Zola is a unique Kefalonian hideaway seaside village. With its own beautiful sandy beaches, coves, harbour and tavernas this is a real get-away-from-it-all location. Yet it’s idyllic location on the island is only 20mins drive from Lixouri and 30 mins to Argostoli or Sami. The beach of Aghia Kiriaki is only a 5 minutes drive down into the bay.

Wherever you are in Zola you have the most fantastic views. Hiding round a headland is the world renowned

Myrtos Beach and only a short way over the bay is Assos with its hilltop castle. On the northern horizon lies Lefkas, whilst majestic mountains rise to the east and west.

The island of Kefalonia enjoys long hot summers and you are never far from any number of fabulous beaches. Don't forget to bring your snorkel! The sea is so clear and blue you won't be able to resist taking a dip.

Kefalonia

There are a number of tavernas in the Zola area offering a varied menu from fish to succulent steaks and traditional Greek cuisine. Try a wonderful sea-food meal at the small harbour-side taverna or rent a small motor-boat to explore the secluded coves along the coast. You may be lucky enough to spot some of the numerous dolphins or turtles that can be found there.

Just up the coastline is the picturesque village of Assos with its quaint harbour. The adventurous may wish to hike up to the Venetian fortress to take in the views over the whole coastline. Continuing northwards from Assos will eventually bring you to the harbour of Fiscardo, famous for its Venetian architecture which has survived over the years.

More Kefalonia:

Stunning beaches, Diving, Monastery of Agios Gerasimos and Vineyard, Melassani Lake, Drogarati Caves, ‘Captain Correlli’ at Sami and Antisamos and much much more. Voted one of the top 10 places in the world to holiday. Once you’ve been you’ll know why....

"Villa Incantevole in un'isola meravigliosa"

Ho appena terminato la vacanza e sento tanta nostalgia! La villa è proprio come nelle foto: bellissima. Abbiamo trovato tutto ordinato e pulito, tranne qualche stoviglia nonostante ci fosse una lavas… More

"Too hot to do more than turn the pages of a good book"

We came in search of authentic Greece and chose to base ourselves as far away from all signs of the ubiquitous "All day English Breakfast" as we could. We like Kefalonia for its laid back pace of life and simplicity of local experiences and Zola provided both in abundance.
In terms of the villas we have stayed in before as a family, Drakondas is top quality. Relatively new; spacious and comfortable; excellent facilities; beautiful pool; stunning rugged setting and views from the sun deck on the first floor that will take your breath away.
Zola is quiet. No hustle and bustle except for the wind rustling the olive trees; the chatter of crickets; and the gentle tinkling of sheep bells as the local flock graze their way down the valley. The beach is a short stroll down the hill, the sea is crystal clear and all shades of blue.
The fish restaurant on the beach is very Greek. No frills, just fresh food simply cooked. Perfect. Other restaurants are available but we mostly ate in .
If you're eating in I suggest you visit the local mini-market before planning your menu. Pick whatever is fresh and available in terms of locally grown fruit and vegetables and go from there. The feta cheese is superb.
If you're venturing out, Assos, Fiskardo and Agia Evfimia are worth a visit.
Mostly we filled our days with sleeping, eating, lying in the sun and the occasional dip in the pool.
If your idea of a great holiday is sun, sea and stunning scenery, this is the villa for you.

"Stunning setting, peacefull, lovely villa and a warm welcome!!"

This beautiful villa is set overlooking one of Kefalonias many lovely bays. The Villa is of a very high standard, in a private position. The accomodation is spacious, very clean indeed, with a great infinity pool. The sun rose over the hill facing the villa just after 9 am and baked down throughout the day, dipping down at the other side just after 5...giving a little bit of shade to start and finish the day; which was very welcome indeed. The best part of the villa for us was the upstairs balcony which is to die for; start the day there with a cup of tea and finish it late evening with a glass of wine; the view changes constantly. Zola is a small village which is situated equal distance from most of the main towns/villages of Kefalonia and a little car will give you easy access; the roads are very quiet indeed. We loved the villa and have returned totally chilled. Highly recommended
