About the home

Villa Drakondas, which sleeps 6 - 8 people (1 double master bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms and 2 sofa beds), is set in a superb location in Zola. The views over the bay, towards Assos, are stunning.It is only a few minutes from the villa to the very long beach in the bay below. There are a couple of local tavernas in this quiet hamlet, the nearest being next to the beach.

The villa’s lounge opens onto a large terrace and to the pool, from which you will be able to admire the breathtaking views over the bay to Assos and Lefkada beyond.  Cook at the large bbq with outdoor oven whilst admiring the amazing sea and valley views.

The large private infinity style swimming pool has a shallow end perfect for children but is also ideal for swimming.  In addition to the large terrace downstairs and large balcony upstairs, the pool has a sun patio and there is a large garden with a variety of fruit and olive trees.

If you enjoy walking there are countless beaches and mountain tracks to explore. For shopping and a rich variety of tavernas etc., Lixouri is a short 20minute drive and the capital Argostoli is 35 minutes. Here you will also find freshly caught fish straight off the boats and a wonderful array of fresh fruit and vegetables at the seashore market.

Zola is a unique Kefalonian hideaway seaside village. With its own beautiful sandy beaches, coves, harbour and tavernas this is a real get-away-from-it-all location. Yet it’s idyllic location on the island is only 20mins drive from Lixouri and 30 mins to Argostoli or Sami. The beach of Aghia Kiriaki is only a 5 minutes drive down into the bay.

Wherever you are in Zola you have the most fantastic views. Hiding round a headland is the world renowned
Myrtos Beach and only a short way over the bay is Assos with its hilltop castle. On the northern horizon lies Lefkas, whilst majestic mountains rise to the east and west.

The island of Kefalonia enjoys long hot summers and you are never far from any number of fabulous beaches. Don't forget to bring your snorkel! The sea is so clear and blue you won't be able to resist taking a dip.

The Kefalonia / Zola area

There are a number of tavernas in the Zola area offering a varied menu from fish to succulent steaks and traditional Greek cuisine. Try a wonderful sea-food meal at the small harbour-side taverna or rent a small motor-boat to explore the secluded coves along the coast. You may be lucky enough to spot some of the numerous dolphins or turtles that can be found there.

Just up the coastline is the picturesque village of Assos with its quaint harbour. The adventurous may wish to hike up to the Venetian fortress to take in the views over the whole coastline. Continuing northwards from Assos will eventually bring you to the harbour of Fiscardo, famous for its Venetian architecture which has survived over the years.

Between 1st April and 31st October there are direct flights to Kefalonia.
At any other time or as an alternative there are numerous flights to Athens with connecting flights to Kefalonia.
Ferries are available from Italy (Bari and Brindisi direct to Kefalonia), or from mainland Greece (Patras and Killini) Please enquire for more information on ferries.
A car is needed and can be hired from the airport. (This can be done in advance of your stay) Autoeurope are a reasonably priced reliable supplier.

"We stayed at Villa Drakondas for a week, at the end of May. The Villa surpassed all our expectations. Every detail within the villa had been carefully thought out, so it was a home from home experience. The views and location, absolutely stunning, and the customer care we received out there was second to none. Our only negative point would be that the pool was quite cold, as it was early on in the season. We plan to return as we feel we have found a gem here and would whole heartedly recommend Villa Drakondas. The owners have been very friendly throughout the booking and we are still in touch, . We fell in love with Kefalonia and the area of Zola. Thank you to everybody involved in making our holiday such a wonderful one.

"We like to tell you that we have had a wonderful holiday on Kafelonia in your villa. First we visited Athens a couple of days and then we went to Kefalonia. You really have a very nice house on a very special and quiet spot! The quality of your house was more than we expected. The house was bigger than we expected – with a very nice pool - and we very liked the location and the view on the mountain, the beach and the sea – and every hour the colors changed a bit – wonderful!!

We rented a little Suzuki Jeep and two scooters –so we made a lot of trips all over the island. Also we rented a boat for one day and went for special beaches. And almost every evening we used the barbeque! So we enjoyed our holiday very much – thanks for all!!
