Villa Marbirini provided us with a wonderful holiday. We've stayed in loads of villas in many countries and this was definitely one of the best. Important things such as cleanliness, pool hygiene, and cookking utensils were all oustanding. We nearly stayed in or near Fiskardo but ended up booking this villa instead not having visited Kefalonia before. We were lucky. It is a long way to Fiskardo and the south part of the island provides a much better base for your holiday. All in all we can really recommend, the villa, the owners, the agents who met us and the island. Greatr holiday |

Our enquiries to the owners were always answered very quickly and the information we received was very accurate and honest - this is a professional service. On arrival the villa was very clean and well presented and with an excellent 'welcome' hamper, which was a nice touch. We were met on time, made very welcome and shown how everything worked. The representatives were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. When the party split into two groups we gave our son the front door key, which he thought didn't work so they got us new keys cut immediately. The villa itself is excellent and has every facility and appliance we needed. Everything was in A1 condition and everywhere was spotless. It is extremely well looked after and can't be faulted. It is very spacious and considering there were five adults it did not feel crowded. It is very well set out, has all the facilities you need for a holiday and has a lovely ambience. It is very easy to chill out and relax. The pool is great and was cleaned every day - the ladies particularly enjoyed watching the pool man! The area around the pool is nicely laid out with plenty of sunbeds, chairs, etc. Touring the island was a great adventure - lots to see and do and we didn't cover all of it. We were emailed a copy of the villa information pack before our holiday. It was very useful and was used to plan our days out and dining options. We used the BBQ twice and it was a pleasant alternative. The men cooked and the ladies relaxed and were pampered. If we were to visit the island again then we would definitely consider using the villa again! We would highly recommend it to all. Thanks for a lovely holiday! Richard, Sheila and family, Berks. Guestbook for Villa Marbirini
- The peaceful nature of the Villa and the island itself made it a lovely relaxing holiday. We were made to feel welcome on arrival and were given a helpful demonstration of how everything worked. The service was very professional throughout and we always received prompt replies to all emails. The information we received beforehand was comprehensive and covered everything you need to know. The Villa is clean, very well presented and laid out and has all you need for a comfortable stay. The welcome hamper was lovely and the BBQ was good, we used it frequently. We found Preview restaurant and Avithos beach lovely, the children especially really enjoyed them. We would definitely recommend Villa Marbirini and consider re-booking. We had a fantastic time at the Villa and island, thank you for all the hard work you put in to making it so!

-We travel all over the world and always take a villa holiday in the summer – this was the best in over twenty years!! The island is so unspoiled and the beaches and scenery absolutely as the guides describe them. The Villa is perfect and its location is ideal. We loved the beaches and watersports and the Villa’s balconies were ideal for the painters and readers in the family. I hope the umbrellas and other beach gear we left is retained in the Villa – having that readily available means visits to the beach are really pleasant. Generally we liked the tavernas and typically ate Greek but sometimes we found the service wasn’t as attentive as it could have been after. We also used the BBQ facilities on several occasions, which were very good.
On enquiring about the Villa the service was excellent – the three click rule worked and the response from the owners was exceptionally good!! We were emailed lots of information before we went, which was fantastic and we arrived on holiday the best informed we’ve ever been - and we didn’t get lost!! We followed up on many of the site seeing and restaurant suggestions. On arrival we were given a warm welcome and good instruction on how everything worked. The presentation and cleanliness of the Villa couldn’t have been better and the welcome pack contained tea, wine and toast - what more could you want? The facilities at the Villa are absolutely perfect, especially outside - the pool was thoroughly cleaned daily and exceptionally maintained throughout our stay. We’ve already recommended the Villa to friends and family are planning more trips back there to explore more of the island! It’s a great destination, let’s hope the planners maintain its charm – swimming in clear blue water and seeing turtles and stingrays in their natural habitat was a real high. We had a fantastic time; what a wonderful Villa you have!!

-The Villa is an excellent base, we had originally planned to stay in the North of the island near Fiskardo but having had our holiday, we feel we had a narrow escape – Karavados is a much better location. The roads are generally mediocre and the location provides for good access to most areas of the island. It’s also well sited for Argostoli and the ferry. The island was much greener than expected and the weather superb – no mosquitoes either! Very comprehensive information was emailed in advance, which we took with us and used during our stay along with comments in the visitors book. We were met by Tony and given a great welcome and later when there was a problem with the parasol he sorted it out quickly by providing a brand new replacement. The Villa was very clean and well-presented on our arrival and the pool was excellent. The BBQ was also great and a major surprise was the quality of the butchers and meat markets in Kefalonia – it was excellent and interesting for an island that the meat is better than the fish and more widely available! We loved eating at The Olive Grove and Finikas at Efimat. The beaches were all great and varied. The local beach Geogios was excellent. The turtles at Argostoli were a wonderful experience for our children – it was great to watch them at close quarters from the harbour side and we also spotted Dolphins from the ferry.
When asked by the owners on our return if there were any suggestions we could make to improve the accommodation, services or facilities at the Villa, we couldn’t think of anything! We would definitely recommend the Villa and consider re-booking in future. Thanks for the excellent service and use of your Villa and also for your very considerate approach to ensuring that everything went well for us. We had a fantastic holiday in Kefalonia and the Villa is simply superb.

-The service we received when making enquiries about the Villa was highly professional and we really appreciated the speed of responses via email and phone calls. It made the whole process very easy and we knew exactly what was happening at each point. The information emailed to us prior the departure was detailed and exactly what we needed to know; we made our booking quite close the time of travel and we received the information as soon as possible, which really helped us when organising the rest of our trip. The directions were very easy to follow, we used taxis to get the Villa initially. The directions and images that we had previously been sent really helped when trying to describe where we were going!
As recommended by Martin and Berni, we took down taxi drivers names and numbers throughout our stay to use in the future, which proved very helpful. We were met on time when we arrived and were shown around the Villa, everything was clearly explained to us and we were shown how everything worked, which was definitely needed! The Villa was lovely and clean when we arrived and we felt at home very quickly. The welcome hamper was great! It was exactly what we needed after a long journey and definitely above expectations. We used the information pack every day! It had everything we needed in it, including taxi numbers – George was great! He helped us decide what trips we were going to do. We had everything we needed in the Villa, we were very happy to find eggcups! The dishwasher and washing machine were an added bonus.
Overall the facilities were great and exceeded all expectations from our group. The outdoor facilities were perfect, we loved the BBQ and had home made burgers twice during our stay. There was enough seating and sun loungers and everyone was comfortable. The pool was clean and maintained satisfactorily during our stay, although we were always asleep when it happened! The description of the Villa on the website accurately represented the accommodation and facilities, if anything we were even more blown away when we got to see it in real life. We got 4 mopeds in the end! Much cheaper than cars and so much easier for 8 people to zip around the island in, we’d definitely recommend these for any other large groups of friends staying at the Villa. The moped rental place in town was really helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We really enjoyed St Thomas’s beach, the one closest to the Villa, we did go out to a several other beaches further away but this one was by far our favorite. It initially looks really small, but you can nip round the corner to a more secluded bit, and the cafes nearby were great too.
The only disappointing bit was having to leave! We had a lovely holiday and the location was ideal, I would definitely recommend it to large groups of friends and family. We would definitely consider re-booking the Villa in future. The locals were lovely and really appreciated our terrible attempts at speaking Greek, they were really helpful in directing us and helping us on our way.

-One of the most enjoyable aspects of our stay at Villa Marbirini was having a ‘home for home’ with all the facilities we needed. The island itself is quiet and relaxing and the Greek roads don’t disappoint, they are ‘lovely’ to drive!
Everything ran smoothly right from our first enquiry - when we booked the service was very efficient, we received lots of information before we travelled and on arrival we were met on time and received a warm welcome. The villa was very clean and well-presented and all the facilities both indoors and outdoors exceeded our expectations. We particularly enjoyed the experience of Greek night, with Greek buffet and dancing on Thursday evening at Andromeda.
We would definitely recommend the villa and consider returning there in future. The villa was all the owners said it would be and we had a very relaxing time. Thanks for your efficiency and a most enjoyable holiday…

-The whole booking process was very speedy and efficient throughout. We received a very helpful and thorough information pack a couple of weeks beforehand, which arrived just as we were starting to think about the holiday so perfect timing for us. The directions were fine, we found the Villa easily and were met on time on arrival by the owners local Representatives, who explained everything very well and provided us with great service throughout. The Villa was extremely clean and tidy and the Welcome hamper a nice surprise – it meant we could make a much-needed cuppa!
The Villa was a really comfortable ‘home from home’ place to stay – with the added bonus of a truly fabulous pool, which was kept extremely clean throughout our stay – in fact many days it was hard to persuade any of our four children to leave the Villa! As we were lucky enough to be there for 2 weeks, we had plenty of time for some ‘lazy days’ in between days out exploring the island. We particularly enjoyed a day out in Skala, as it had a large sandy beach, lots of fish to spot while snorkelling, a good Italian restaurant (with a parrot, which the kids loved!) and the Roman villa with the amazing mosaic floors too. We also had a good day driving up to Fiskardo, taking in some spectacular views along the way, and we also really enjoyed taking the car ferry over to Lixouri.
The Villa was great, it has pretty much everything you could ever need and the island has something for everyone. We had good experiences at all the recommended places to visit/eat – our only disappointing day was at Xi beach. We would highly recommend the Villa and would definitely consider re-booking in future. Thanks for a wonderful, relaxing break – just a shame we had to come back to wet, cold England!

-Directions were very good and made the Villa easy to find. It was clean and well-presented on arrival and the information pack very helpful. We particularly liked the large and efficient fridge freezer, air con and the children the TV access, very comfortable beds and quality/style of bedding. A lovely, tasteful ensuite, all bedrooms were tasteful, clean and welcoming. Outside there were enough sunloungers and suitable table and chairs and the pool was cleaned regularly throughout. Reps called regularly and it was lovely to know changes would occur - fresh towels/linen were always welcome.
The Villa was attractive (lovely flower beds and well kept garden areas, comfortable, well equipped, clean and had a fresh and well cared for ambiance. However hot and tired we were, it was always a pleasure to come back to its relative peace and quiet and privacy. We don’t like being in very busy places and Karavados was just right. Local supermarket owners were friendly and helpful and there's easy access to larger supermarkets with a good selection of just about anything you might need. The pool was lovely to return to at any time of day, be it a dip in the morning or a lazy day or evening spent around it reading and relaxing. With 3 teenage children, (2 redheads!), the TV, music and DVD equipment and inside air con plus the sunshades/loungers outside gave all members of our family a chance to spend time reading, relaxing, swimming, etc. Our children found it hot to spend time in the car and we thought we were actually in the best area of the island for sandy, clean and not too crowded beaches.
We were so happy where we were that we didnt need to drive around too much, we just enjoyed the chance to relax at/near the local beaches. My favourite is St Thomas, very pretty and not too overcrowded. We ate out at the Olive Tree, we really liked the local Taverna at St Thomas bay open in evening - unspoilt rustic food well cooked and friendly!
I’d say the Villa’s as good, if not better than anticipated. It can be a worry booking on the net but the professionalism, comprehensive booking agreement, timely email contact all gave a confident feeling we’d receive good service, which we did, including the follow up on our return. In a lovely location allowing you to enjoy a beautiful part of Kefalonia without the need to travel too far, or a quality base to return to after exploring further afield. A lovely Villa, which we feel privileged to have found and be able to stay in!
Helen, Dave and Family, London, August 2010
-The speed and professionalism of the service throughout the booking process could not have been better and the owners went out of their way to help us with our travel arrangements. We were provided with information about the Villa and the Island by email before the holiday so we had most things planned before we went.
We had no problems finding the Villa and on arrival we were met on time and everything explained in detail, the Villa itself was spotless and the facilities are fabulous. The pool was cleaned every day and when help was needed and we phoned to ask about watching the World Cup everything was explained quickly – much to my husband and sons’ relief!
We loved the peace and quiet of the Villa as well as the trips into Argostoli just to sit and watch the world go by in one of the cafes, we also loved the little beach at St Thomas. We would definitely recommend the Villa and would love to go back. Kefalonia is very beautiful and we found everyone on Island very friendly, we wished we had some extra time on our own to explore further, maybe the next time… Wish we were still here!

-When we first enquired all emails/queries were responded to very promptly, which made the booking process very simple and hassle free. The information pack that was emailed to us before our holiday was great. The directions from the airport to the villa were brilliant – we didn’t take one wrong turn! The other information re beaches/restaurants, etc. was also very good and we even had the muscles at the Olive Grove based on the recommendation! Thanks!
The owners Representatives were at the Villa before we arrived and I also got sent a text to say they were waiting for us once we had landed, which was very reassuring. They took us through the appliances, etc. – particularly the TV for World Cup Viewing! and explained they would be back on Wednesday to change the towels, which they did. The Villa was spotless and very tidy – very nice! The welcome pack was very much appreciated especially as we arrived on a Sunday and the big supermarkets weren’t open – it was great to have the essentials to get started. I was actually very happy that the oven/microwave/washing machine, etc. were all so modern and in working order – it made the stay very stress free and meant we could use the Villa as much as possible.
We particularly loved the outdoor BBQ! it was very nice to be outside using this and it is a really nice addition to the Villa. As there was only 2 of us we had plenty of chairs/loungers etc and it was very clean and comfortable to be outside relaxing. We saw the ‘pool man’ a few times and he did a great job cleaning the pool every day. The air conditioning and Sky TV was great to have and the Villa was very comfortable. The Island was beautiful – our favourite beach was Antisamos and we loved the small towns and villages throughout the island. We regularly referred to the information pack especially for restaurant recommendations – all of which were very nice. We LOVED the Olive Grove – we went there twice. I was a little disappointed with Assos, but the drive was worth it to see Myrtos Beach.
I don’t think there is a single suggestion I could make to improve the accommodation, services or facilities at the Villa. The description of the Villa on the website very accurate – it was what we expected and much more… We would highly recommend Villa Marbirini for a fantastic holiday, it is an excellent choice!
Lucy and Steve, Kent, England. June 2010
-Kefalonia is so restful when you want it to be and this Villa ticked all the right boxes - fantastic views in a superb convenient position but far enough away from the coast to be tranquil. TheVilla itself is spotlessly clean - all credit to the team the owner has employed. Indeed the owners should be proud of what they have achieved - guests really want for nothing. We had such a relaxing time there and even though we went in October the weather remained superb throughout our two week stay. Despite horror stories about the airport there were no delays although we do recommend you get there at least 3 hours before your flight back. You will need a car - but the rates we got were excellent when booking in advance.
In terms of eating in/out - we alternated - having stocked up at the local supermarkets - three of them situated conveniently close to each other. And the range of affordable restaurants and tavernas in this part of the island is superb. We really do recommend the OLIVE GROVE - this became our favourite - try the dessertsand don't forget the home made pies - you will need to diet when you come home! This was our first villa holiday and we approached it with some trepidation but I have to say if Villa Marbirini is typical then we will be doing this again - and yes - we will definitely return to this Villa. For children and adults alike the Villa offers everything you need. Well done to the owners and if we could have given it more than 5 stars, we would have done! BRILLIANT!!

-The booking process was very easy and extremely efficient, with very prompt replies to emails. The directions to the Villa were the clearest instructions I have ever had to follow. We were met on time and given a very warm welcome – the Villa was spotless and everything we needed to know was explained along with useful local advice about shops on a Sunday.
The Villa was clean, modern, spacious and well equipped with anything you could want from major things like the pool, the air conditioning and DVD player to small things like plenty of tea towels, dishcloths, clothes pegs, toilet rolls and waste bags. So often when you arrive at a self catering property there are none of these. Everything is very well thought out. There is plenty of garden furniture, the garden itself is attractive and the night lighting good. We all loved the pool and the ‘pool man’ did an excellent job. We also enjoyed sitting out on one of the two front balconies in the evening. We used the barbeque a couple of times and it worked well. When we found that the toaster didn’t work properly and the ironing board was broken both items were replaced with brand new ones almost immediately.
The information pack provided by the owners along with information from their local representatives meant we could start relaxing and enjoying ourselves straight away. On other holidays it can take several days to work out where things are, how things work and where to look for the best beaches. We all enjoyed the different beaches for different reasons. Our overall favourite was probably Ammes or ‘the airport beach’ as we called it. The children enjoyed the bigger waves at Lourdas, I enjoyed the water and beauty of Antisamos and my husband liked Trapezaki and St. Thomas (over the headland). We enjoyed Assos, Sami and Antisamos, found the Melessani lake beautiful and liked going across to the Lixouri peninsula on the ferry from Argostoli. We particularly liked the beach at Varahani and had great fish at Taverna Remetzo there.
Our favourite things were the pool, the beaches, the fresh fish and the sunshine! We had a fantastic holiday and very much enjoyed Kefalonia. In more than 20 years of renting accommodation in Britain and Europe this was the best place we have stayed. We would definitely recommend it!

-On making enquiries about booking the responses we received were immediate and the professionalism of the service was very good. The directions were very accurate and the photos especially were very helpful. The representatives who met us were on time and they were very helpful throughout our holiday. On arrival the Villa was clean and in very good condition. The welcome hamper was really nice and it contained very important things for the first hours. The information pack was helpful and answered our queries about the facilities, beaches, tavernas, places to visit, etc. Both indoor and outdoor facilities exceeded our expectations; we had barbeques every night, which was one of the highlights of the facilities for us.
When we first saw the Villa on the website we had some minor doubts if the descriptions were accurate and true but the fact is that we found the Villa and the facilities in better condition than we expected. The most enjoyable aspects of our stay at the Villa were the pool, the garden (because we have children), the barbeque and the beaches. We liked the local beach of Agios Thomas a lot and most of all Myrtos. If we visit the island again Villa Marbirini would be our first choice – we would definitely recommend it.
Kefalonia is a beautiful island with fantastic beaches and very picturesque places that you must visit. It was the third time we have visited the island for our holidays but it is the first time we have stayed in a villa. We enjoyed it so much that from now on, everywhere we go for holidays our first option would be to book a villa and hope it would be as good as the one we have been to for the first time, Villa Marbirini.
July 2009, Giorgos and family, Pyrgos, Greece.
- This was our first time to Kefalonia. We loved it and we've no doubt we'll return. And when we do, we'll return to Villa Marbirini. We have always previously looked to go somewhere new on each holiday but this villa may have changed that.
We've stayed at plenty of villas/cottages, and this was the best one by a mile. The property description is spot on. The location is just right. This is not just holiday accommodation, this is a real home. It would be quite easy to move in and just stay there! You will find everything you could possibly need.
On arrival, the villa was spotless. We can't think of anything that the owners hadn't sorted out. The villa is very modern, its contents very new. And the pool - oh my God, it was fabulous! (The pool was cleaned every day, too).
The time we spent at the villa was really relaxing. There's something about sitting on the balcony and looking seawards with a cold drink and your feet up!
You get the picture by now...we loved it.
As for Kefalonia, it has some real gems in terms of beaches and attractions. As first-time visitors (and without the time to have done any real homework before going), we followed a lot of the suggestions
the owners made in their information pack. You definitely need a hire car. We were grateful too for the owners' recommendations on a number of tavernas, all of them were worth a visit.
Kefalonia is somewhere you go to relax. It's a beautiful island, the colour of the sea has to be seen to be believed. And we would challenge anyone to find fault with this villa. It's a real credit to the owners. Five stars, no hesitation.
