BookThe Ionian Islands region
Kefalonia is a beautiful island, very green with spectacular sea views and mountain scenery. Karavados is a charming village situated near the south-west coast within easy reach of a superb selection of sandy beaches with clear turquoise seas. Also within easy reach are many traditional Greek Tavernas, one within walking distance. There are many places of interest to visit from underground lakes and caves with stalactites and stalagmites to St Gerasimos Monastery with its stunning murals. Myrtos beach is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. A holiday on Kefalonia is definitely a sunshine holiday, it only rains approximately 30 days in every year.
The Kefalonia / Karavados area
Many of the island's beaches offer a range of watersports facilities and horseriding facilities are also available. The island offers a number of historic tourist attractions including St George's Castle and the ruins of a Venetian fort at Assos. Argostoli, the island's capital, has a bustling city square and a wide selection of bars, tavernas and shops. Ferries can be taken from Argostoli to Lixouri, on the island's western peninsula. Giant turtles can be found in Argostoli Bay patrolling the fishing boats for titbits whilst the local fishermen sell their daily catches each morning to the public at the harbour's edge. Ferries can also be used to island-hop to Ithaca, Zakynthos and Lefkas.

An extremely comfortable and well-equipped villa with a good pool. The pool area is private and well-sighted, giving some areas of shade during the day whilst allowing sun worshippers a complete fix. The villa is within 20 minutes of the airport, great for getting into the holiday quickly. Argostoli 15-20 mins so shopping etc no problems at all. There are lots of good beaches close by and a great choice of local tavernas and restaurants within short driving distance. Fabulous views across the Ionian Sea to Zakynthos. We will certainly return. |

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday at Villa Marbirini. From first contact, the owners have been more than helpful and very prompt in replying to queries. Before the holiday we received a v. detailed info pack with everything we could need to know about the island, villa, local amenities etc. The villa was spotlessly clean, comfortable and one of the best equipped we have stayed in - home from home. The owners representatives met us on arrival and were v. helpful - cleaning and laundry changes were done efficiently and discreetly. Fabulous clean pool, meticulously maintained every day, usually before most people surfaced. We loved the local St Thomas' beach but Myrthos is stunning and well worth a visit on the way to Firskardo. Argostoli great for wonderful fruit and veg and a fantastic bakery - don't miss seeing the giant turtles in the bay. Local taverna Happiness, great value and friendly but favourite The Olive Tree. Kefalonia is a beautiful island and Villa Marbirini the perfect place to stay. No hesitation in recommending it - we hope to return! |
