The Ionian Islands region

Ionian Islands are considered the jewel of the Greek islands .
Beautiful white pebble beaches with stunning blue skies and undisturbed by tourism.

The Ionian Islands are idyllic and varied in character. A little less busy, islands such as Kefalonia and Zakynthos are lush and inviting.

Agia Efimia is a traditional fishing village and capital of the Pilaros region of Kefalonia (Cephalonia).
There has been at harbour at this site for centuries, but most of the area's inhabitants lived in the hills
The village is centred around the harbour, lined by a number of tavernas, bars and shops, which make for a very pleasant place to stop for a drink or meal

Agia Efimia is becoming increasingly popular with the yachting fraternity and flotillas of yachts bob in the harbour.

Kefalonia / Agia Efimia area

The harbour front is a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by, but also take a wander around some of the cobbled backstreets to really get a feel for this pretty village

Agia Efimia is famous for its flowers and gardens, in which the villagers take great pride. The bright colours of Bougainvillea, Morning Glory and Plumbego invade with the streets and the heady aroma of Jasmine pervades the whole village in the evening.

Captivating views of the island of Ithaki and watching the sun go down is one of the reasons most of the action is stituated along the quay side, so if want some where to relax and unwind while you watch the world go by this is the place.

However, the world famous Myrtos Beach is only a few minutes away.

Myrtos Beach is renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and during 2003/2004 was awarded first prize in an international competition.
It has also earned the Blue Flag of the E.U. for the excellent manner in which it is organised.

During the summer months the Municipality of Pylaros provide a regular bus service to and from Myrtos Beach. Timetables are posted outside the Tourist Information office and the bus leaves from the harbour area.
