This traditional style stone villa is located on the western side of the north peninsula: it has unmatched views and unrivalled tranquillity. Set in its own grounds amid the old almond, fig and cypress trees, not forgetting the 700 year old olive tree, the villa is built in the Venetian fashion from local stone and has a large terrace and pool, with many scented flowers in the garden.
The villa comprises well-equipped, high quality spacious living and dining accommodation with 3 generous bedrooms (2 twins and 1 en-suite double). Five minutes drive and you’re in Manganos, where you can shop for daily necessities; ten minutes drive brings you to the busy yachting port of Fiskardo with its shops, tavernas and visiting celebs. The ground floor and the private pool/patio are available for guests; the upper floor is unoccupied during the summer months.

The Ionian Islands region

The north of the island is away from the busy tourist areas and is the only part of the island to retain many of the Ventian buildings once found over the whole island. Long occupation by Turks, Venetians, French and British give this part the island a character of its own. Days can be spent walking, swimming, sailing or driving around as you explore this unique island. It's history stretches from the Stone age and stone tools can be found if you know where to look; snorkelling and diving will reveal shipwrecks from ancient times too and you may also find the remains of aircraft from World War II lost at sea. The climate is perfect with temperatures in the high 20s and no rain to speak of from June - September.

Kefalonia / Fiscardo area

The Olive Tree is secluded and peaceful but there are two beaches within walking distance, both with tavernas. For those who want a quiet break but enjoy a the busy nightlife the buzz of Fiskardo is only 15 minutes drive away. Walking in the area takes you to an abandoned village or along lost footpaths to other quiet villages. Driving gives you access to the whole island and, with the detailed maps provided, you can find your way to wineries, shops or a remote beach of your own.

How to get there

Direct Sunday flights from UK to Kefalonia are available from:- www.avro.co.uk, www.xl.com, www.flythomascook.com, www.firstchoice.co.uk/flights, www.travelrepublic.co.uk. Or you can spend time in Athens or on the mainland before catching a ferry to the island. The Olive Tree is just 1 hour from the airport and a million miles from the crowds. Contact us for info for car hire from the airport. The Olive Tree is peaceful and safe for children to play with no traffic passing by and no noisy neighbours to spoil the magnificent setting. The village of Manganos with tavernas, supermarket and greengrocers is 5 mins away by car. The resort of Fiskardo with its boutiques, restaurants, bank, cashpoints, supermarkets, boat hire and post office is 15 mins drive. Argostoli, the island’s capital, with its busy seafront market, shops and museums is 1 hour’s drive. The port of Sami with ferry links to the mainland is 40 mins drive. There is a medical centre at Vasilikades 15 mins drive away. Directions on how to get to The Olive Tree will be sent six weeks before your holiday begins, detailed maps for your exploration of the island are provided at the villa.

Thick stone walls and elevated position keep the villa cool in summer. Lots of films, books and toys are provided for those of all ages. A cot/playpen, highchair and toys are provided for the youngest visitors

Welcome hamper on arrival, midweek maidservice. Washing powder, dishwasher tablets and all cleaning neccessities are included.

Larger groups can be catered for by arrangement.

The villa is set in a third of an acre of private garden with mature trees, flowers and the magnificent 700 year old olive tree. Large upper terrace with 8m x 3.5 metre pool with magnificent views over western Kefalonia, Assos and the sea. Plenty of comfortable loungers and parasols for those long, hot days by the pool.

Lower garden offers secluded shady areas – again with great views.

Conditions

A 25% deposit is required at time of booking, fully refundable if cancellation is made more than 8 weeks before arrival date. Balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
