Home description
Les Kai is a restored 17th century stone cottage - originally the stables to the neighbouring farmhouse Romer. It is a unique and interesting little gem, with metre thick walls to keep you cool in the summer, and with a south west facing sun deck with views across olive groves to the Sea. The pretty swimming pool is set below both cottages and not overlooked by either. The gardens are full of terraces and bourgainvillaea clad stone walls.
This part of Kefalonia is still largely undiscovered by tourists, and more like neighbouring Ithaka than the south of the island. There are several excellent beaches within a ten minute drive of the cottage and a thirty minute walk to the nearest beach. A five minute walk to the village, which has two excellent tavernas, minimarket and church. Five minutes' drive will bring you to Fiscardo, where you can sit at one of the many quayside tavernas, sipping a drink and celebrity spotting as the yachts come and go.

ASSOS A very picturesque port just 25 minutes drive away from Romer and Les Kai - so go for a day trip to see it, and take a walk up to the castle on the island above it .... if you are feeling fit!
The famous and much photographed MYRTOS BEACH is also nearby - listed as one of the top ten beaches in the world.
MELISSANI LAKE A semi-underground lake you can take a little boat ride on - the best time to go is at midday, when the sun makes fabulous patterns on the walls of the cave.

ST GEORGES CASTLE The old capital of Kefalonia - now quite a spectacular ruin with great views... A nice alternative day out, away from the beaches - take a picnic and explore the old ramparts
THE MONASTERY OF ST GERASIMOS The little church next to the large cathedral is built over the cave that St Gerasimos lived in - you can go down into it - pretty amazing ... especially if you are brave enough to crawl through to his 'bedroom'! Look out for the ostriches they keep there too.
Take a day trip to ITHACA and have an island tour with my firend Yanni who will pick you up from the port.
How to get there
Direct Flights from the UK cost around £230.00 per person, but you can find them for as little as £125: approx. 2hs 45mins flying time from May to October, or via Athens from November to April (less than an hour's flight from Athens). Further details indoors: Les Kai has one double bedroom, and a double sofabed in the living room. The cottage is converted from the original stables and forms an 'L' shape. An ideal location for honeymooners of any age.
It has a well equipped kitchen, a table and two chairs, plus living room with video recorder, CD player and small library of books, videos and CDs. There is also an iron and ironing board and small hairdryer. Outside there are deck chairs and dining table on the sun deck and a breakfast patio with table and seating for 4.
Further details outdoors: Outside there are sun loungers and a terraced roof for shade. There are many terraces in the gardens which are filled with a variety of colourful flowers, fruit trees and bourgainvilleas. The swimming pool is set below the cottages on a private terrace, which is not overlooked by either cottage. It is shared between Romer and Les Kai Cottage, but most guests come to this spot for peace and quiet, so the arrangement works well and you will often have the pool to yourself.

Conditions
The property is not suitable for young children due to the unfenced areas on the terraces.
A 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking within 5 days of reservation. The final balance is due 8 weeks prior to the arrival date. If reservations are made less than 8 weeks before arrival, then 100% of the rental is required within 5 days of booking.
A security deposit of £200.00 is payable along with the final balance 8 weeks prior to your holiday. Following checkout of the cottage(s), it (they) will be cleaned and a thorough inventory taken prior to any guests checking in. Provided there is no more than a reasonable cleanup and nothing has been damaged or is missing, a cheque for the entire security deposit will be posted to you within 7 business days.

Chris and I have always loved Greece. The delicious food and the friendliness of the people, so we knew we would not be disappointed in visiting Kefalonia. What we were unprepared for was the truly unique feel of Les Kai. It was the holiday both of us had dreamed of; a short walk to the beach and local tavernas. We indulged in our favourite pastime on holiday, 'doing nothing,' and for once this was completely uninterrupted.
Can't thank you enough for recommending this beautiful place - it was as you described and we will be back.

We had a great time at the cottage - it was everything that we hoped it would be - the quiet was deafening, particularly first thing in the morning, not that we saw many!
The weather was the best it could be, and coming back to the pool was fantastic. It was an ideal location to de-stress, only one problem - the week went too quickly! We would love to return in the near future.
