Villa Mimoza is accessed via impressive wrought-iron gates and is surrounded by walls to all sides, providing security and peace. The plot of nearly 2,000 square metres (half an acre) guarantees your total privacy. Inside, Villa Mimoza benefits from unique vaulted timber ceilings, with sparkling chandeliers.
The villa entrance leads into the spacious kitchen with cherry wood units and high quality appliances. A short flight of marble steps leads up to the large master bedroom with en-suite bath/shower room. French doors lead on to a charming balcony providing wonderful views across the country landscape of Spartia to the sea beyond.
Across the landing is the attractive second twin bedroom with views of Mount Aenos and St. George’s castle. Conveniently located between the two bedrooms is the well appointed shower room, with large walk-in shower, basin and WC. Both bedrooms benefit from large fitted wardrobes in cherry wood units to match the kitchen.
Another short flight of marble steps leads down from the kitchen to the spacious lounge diner, with open fireplace, flat screen TV with Nova satellite, (limited English channels), dining table and chairs to seat six, and a large comfortable corner sofa. A sofa bed is also available for one adult or two children. The lounge, kitchen and master bedroom all benefit from large south facing balconies with glorious sea views across to the island of Zante (Zakynthos).
Marble steps take you down to the crazy paving that extends to all sides of the property, and surrounds the pool and barbecue areas.
The large 11m x 4m pool, complete with Roman Steps, is set within a spacious paved terrace area, which leads onto the large traditional Greek spit style barbecue area, which provides ample work surfaces and serving areas for eating alfresco.
The safety of our guests is of paramount importance, and we are pleased to have approval from the Greek Ministry of Tourism to let our property, with the necessary fire precautions in place to achieve this approval.

The Ionian Islands region

Kefalonia is cited as the jewel of the Ionian islands, a group of seven main islands located off the west coast of Greece. It is an island of natural contrasts from its enchanting shores to its breathtaking mountains. Kefalonia boasts some of the best beaches in Greece, from long sandy stretches to tiny secluded coves. Its geology is stunning, wherever you stay on the island it is easy to visit the centrally located caves of Drogarati and the underground lake of Melisani.
The Kefalonia / Spartia area
There are beautiful beaches within a short drive including Spartia, St Thomas, Trapezaki, and Lourdata.
St Georges Castle is definitely worth a visit, if only to sample the delights of The Castle Cafe, the baguettes are to die for!
Drive a little further inland through a delightful landscape and you come to the monastery of St Gerasimos, the patron saint of Kefalonia.
The monastery is very conveniently located for the co-operative winery, where you can sample the local Robola wine, and buy a bottle or two for sipping later on the balcony!
Villa Mimoza is also only a short drive from the capital, Argostoli, which is a must for at least one evening meal. The square comes alive at night, and there are many good restaurants nearby.
Going further afield, the North of the island has a special atmosphere, with Assos being our favourite village. Go to Estiatorio Assos and mention Bob and Annette to Anthoula, and she may conjure up one of her special desserts! It may take an hour to drive there, but it's worth it!
Just fifteen minutes on from Assos, and you come to Fiscardo on the tip of the island, the only village with its Venetian architecture saved from the 1953 earthquake.
Just down the road from the villa is Pessada with the daily ferry to Zakynthos. We have never quite managed to make it to Zakynthos as there is always plenty to do on Kefalonia, and you have to get up early!
From Argostoli you can take the ferry to the Lixouri peninsular, which runs every thirty minutes in the summer, every hour at other times. If you're lucky you may see dolphins on the way.
Take a day trip to Argostoli and you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables at the market, sample one of the harbourside tavernas, and, if you're really lucky, spot one of the loggerhead turtles that have made their home in Argostoli bay.

From May to October charter flights leave the UK on Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, First Choice, Thomas Cook Airlines, and Monarch are all worth trying, and Easyjet are flying direct to Kefalonia from May 2012.
Don't despair if you draw a blank with the above airlines, the flight specialists such as airflights.co.uk or travelrepublic.co.uk will often show availability.
Out of season, or if flights are not available in high season you can fly Easyjet to Athens, and then the daily Olympic Airways internal flight. There's plenty of shopping at Athens Airport to pass away the time between flights!
There are several car hire companies at Kefalonia airport, we find Hertz to be competitive on price and the local manager is very helpful. The car can be pre-booked on the internet to save some time at the airport desk.
The journey from the airport to the Villa is on quiet country roads through pretty villages for 9 Km, and only takes 15 minutes. Very detailed driving instructions will be sent with your holidy itinerary, and we promise it will be a stress-free journey!

This property is well located in a peaceful area on the outskirts of Spartia and only a 10 minute drive from the airport.. It has a fantastic, uninterupted view of Zakynthos and is not overlooked at all. The rooms are spacious and the interior is well designed and outside there a large outdoor pool that has ample space to relax and enjoy the views. The olive garden also adds to the ambience. It would be hard to find another property within the price range and if you are looking for seclusion but not too far from beaches and village life this is the holiday home for you.. Response: Your review is very much appreciated, it really does mean a lot to us, and a big thanks for your 2012 booking. |

This villa really is perfect, you don't want for anything at all during your stay. The villa is superbly equipped with really comfortable indoor and outdoor furniture with uniterrrupted views all around the property. It is quiet, peaceful and soooo relaxing, whilst being close to the capital of Kefalonia and some beautiful beaches, the local taverna and mini-market make you feel so at home, especially the mini-market run by Katrina and her family as this year she has opened a bar - great place to meet the locals and if you are lucky watch the owl come out of the bell tower at night. If you don't believe us, try for yourselves, we are going back for our fourth time next year and we will be booking again for 2013. A little peace of heaven, which for two weeks of the year we are pleased to pretend is ours! Thanks to Bob and Annette who ensure their villa is in perfect condition everytime. Response: Thanks for your wonderful review, and we will do our best to make your 2012 holiday another one to remember! |
