The Ionian Islands region

The largest and most beautiful of the Ionian islands. The 1600m high mount Anios splits the island in two, the northern section full of dramatic scenery and the southern peninsular a mass of sandy beaches. It has a unique geological phenomena with the Drogarati cave and the icy blue Melissani lake.
The Kefalonia / Kaligata area
This unique luxury villa is located in the heart of the traditional village of Kaligata. This area is historically one of the most prestigious on the island of Kefalonia and the plot enjoys superb views of the Ionian Sea, the sunset, and the traditional village of Domata. The area is surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees and is just a short drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of Avithos, St Hellis and Ammes. The nearby villages of Lakithra and Svoronata also offer a number of local tavernas, mini-markets and bakery. There is also a small mini-market located in the village itself along with a small children’s playground.
Kalligata is also very close to the famous village of Kourkoumelata, where a number of cultural events and concerts are held in the summer months. In addition to this the villa is just a 10 minute drive from the capital of the island, Argostoli, which offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere with its beautiful harbour front, central square, a pedestrian shopping street with a number of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

Must agree with every comment that has been written on this superb Villa.
We booked this beautiful Villa on a cold snowy Jan morning and from that day we counted down the days till our arrival, with lots of help from John and Claire helping us arrange a hotel to stay in before the flight and for when we got there the car hire great for us novices, you do need a car and it certainly enabled us to see a lot of the gorgeous
island. The welcome pack with the lovely provisions and cold wine was very welcoming !
The Villa was in a fab location and beautifully clean, It was just as it was described if not better. I would thoroughly recommend this Villa to all family and friends.
We took different age ranges, we had no problems keeping everyone entertained, everyone loved the pool which was very clean, and eating and drinking outside was idyllic.
The glass bottomed boat trip was something we all enjoyed doing especially my non swimming mother in law and the drive to Fiscardo (where we all had Kefalonia pie) with a stop of at Myrtos beach was a lovely day out.
Many thanks for your warm welcome John and Claire and letting us have the opportunity to share this lovely island our first time in Greece.
was one to be remembered.

Villa Agua is beautiful both inside and out. The views are amazing and the owners have considered every possible comfort and convenience for their visitors. Conveniently situated near (but not too near!) the airport, Villa Agua is also within easy reach of all Kefalonia's main attractions. The local beach is one of the nicest on the island and we particularly enjoyed visiting in the early evening. The local restaurants are also lovely with very friendly service. John and Claire were fantastic hosts - welcoming, helpful and considerate. We stayed in a fantastic villa in Crete some years ago and thought it could never be bettered - we were wrong. We thought some of the reviews on the website could have been made up - we were wrong! Villa Agua is lovely and you won't be disappointed.

This is our second visit to Villa Agua - we love it! It is so relaxing - the villa is beautiful and in a fantastic location. John & Claire are so accommodating, they will always make you feel welcome and will do everything to make sure you have a fantastic stay. The island itself is also beautiful - we feel like we know our way around now and this is a bonus. There are some lovely beaches not far from the villa, some great restaurants nearby and lot of activities - like hire a little boat to visit some remote beaches, snorkelling, visit Fiskardo, Assos, Myrtos Beach to name a few. Even though we have visited twice we still find more things each visit and still things we haven't done. You will not be disappointed if you visit Kefalonia and stay in this villa. You will be well looked after, feel relaxed and you won't want to leave! Needless to say we will be returning to Villa Agua - we can't stay away! Di, Andrew, Daniella & Isabella (Ages 10 & 6) xxx

This villa is a really high standard, luxurious throughout and well equipped. The well maintained garden and colourful plants make for an attractive setting whilst enjoying the pool. It is situated in a good location, local to several tavernas, with a good local beach. We were a party of six adults (three couples), so the three air conditioned en-suite bedrooms fitted the bill perfectly. If you are looking for a three bedroom villa on Cefalonia, then we would thoroughly recommend this one. Doubt if you could find a better villa than this one. We will be back. Thanks for a great holiday

Villa Agua is situated in the sleepy village of Kalagata and is only a 15 minute drive from the airport. The overall situation is beautiful with magnificent views towards the sea.
The villa itself is very spacious, beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped. It is a credit to John and Claire who have designed and built something very special.
The nearest beach is a leisurely 20 minute walk or 2 minute drive away and is a blue flag beach with two great tavernas and a beach bar.
This was our first visit to Kefalonia and we just loved the island with plenty to see.but the highlight for us was staying in this superb villa and also we received wonderful help and advice from John & Claire.

We visited Kefalonia for the first time in May 2010.
A party of six: my partner and I; her parents and her daughter with her boyfriend.
So there were three generations with a variety of interests but the wonderful island of Kefalonia was able to cater for all of us.
The experience was made all the better by having such fantastic accommodation.
The villa was immaculately clean and very well furnished with everything we could need to make our holiday “a home from home – only better”.
The villa is remarkably spacious and we never felt that we were getting under each others feet.
The beautiful kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed for family meals either inside or al fresco in either the outside dining area or at the bbq.
The pool was fantastic and the view stunning.
We honestly couldn’t think of anything that we would recommend to change about the villa itself and we have run out of superlatives to describe it.
The owners, Claire and John, were available to provide advice and gave us soem great recommendations whilst never intruding.
It was a very memorable holiday and we hope to be back before too long to enjoy the pace of Kefalonian life and all of the things that the wonderful island and its warm and friendly people have to offer.

This is a beautiful villa, furnished to a high standard. The living room is large and comfortable, and a great kitchen with dishwasher and fridge-freezer and everything you could need. John and Claire were a great help both in arranging local car hire in advance of us arriving and leaving a welcome pack on our arrival and showing us round the villa.
Great pool, which the children loved. Lovely garden.
The local beach is beautiful and has two tavernas, the top one being a great family run place with great food. The lower one is basic and the waitress could not cope, so I would not recommend it save for a drink.
Mirtos beach is about 50 mins in the car, but well worth it (there is a small cafe there, so either bring your own food or drive back up the cliff to the village (about 1.5km) were at the T junction as you enter the village there is a great taverna on the right with a friendly owner and not bad food.
Lovely island and driving is not bad, as there appears to be only one set of traffic lights on the whole island.
Brilliant Holiday Home for all the family!

This holiday was wonderful great views over the ocean and beautiful gardens and pool to swim in, although a little chilly in May time! but we still braved it :o)
The villa was huge with lots of space for three couples and a baby really enjoyed it and would certainly recommend it for your stay in Kefalonia.

Six adults plus a one-year-old baby stayed at Villa Agua for 12 nights.
The villa is spacious with three bedrooms each having their own bathroom plus a large living area, a well equipped kitched including dishwasher and fridge-freezer, and washing machine in a separate utility room, dining tables both inside and out and everything you need. The whole property in modern, clean and well maintained. John and Claire provided a useful welcome pack which meant we did not have to shop until the next day. They also provided a cot and high chair for the baby.
The garden and pool area are spacious with a brick barbecue, and the pool is big enough for a pool party!
John and Claire went far beyond the call of duty with assistance, particularly when my daughter had to go to the hospital in Argostoli, plus John also brought cakes for us from the bakers in Lakithra!
We would thoroughly recommend Villa Agua.
Places to go and places to eat:
We found the lower restaurant at Avithos beach to be good for lunch but did not use the other one.
Ammes beach is tucked away at the end of the airport runway and is sheltered, but perhaps best avoided on busy flight days.
The resorts of Skala (nice beach and town) and Poros (quite pretty) are well worth a visit (we had lunch at the latter - which was very good). The coastal dive in between is very picturesque.
Mirtos beach and Fiskardo are both musts, although both can be done in one day. We did not stop at the village of Assos in between but John and Clare reckon it is beautiful.
We had a minibus for the whole duration of our stay and you could get to most places with care, although being mountainous there are some steep climbs and descents and some sharp turns and hairpin bends.
Driving a smaller cars is generally fine but watch out for the roundabouts! They are new to Kefalonia and the locals have misinterpreted the 'give way to vehicles from the right' instruction, as they actually stop on the roundabout to let vehicles come onto the roundabout from the right.
There is a small supermarket just outside Svoronata and Greekstones car hire is just down the road from it. There are several supermarkets on the outskirts of Argostoli. AB Supermarket was the best for us, but Carrefour and Lidl were also ok - the latter for cheap beer.
There is a decent restaurant just outside the airport gates for a reasonable meal after checking in for the journey home.

This is an excellent villa! We have just returned from a weeks stay and were really pleased to find the villa had been equipped and furnished to a very high standard. We have stayed in many villas abroad and this is definately the best one we have been to.The pool was lovely and much appreciated in the August temperatures It is set in a quiet Greek village and so car hire is a must but is within easy reach of all attractions and the local beaches and tavernas were all lovely. Claire and John are great, very helpful and provide an excellent welcome pack! We have already recommended the villa to family and friends.

Villa Agua is in a perfect location a mere 10 minute drive from the airport and situated in the quiet village of kaligata.
The villa was very clean, modern and beautifully decorated but cosy and welcoming at the same time. The kitchen was very well equipped, with every need catered for.
All the bedrooms are again beautifully decorated and both upper rooms have stunning views of the Med and evening sunsets from the balconies.
The good size infinity pool was a firm favourite with us especially my 11 year old daughter who was hardly ever out of it.A good time was spent relaxing poolside on the many sunloungers surrounded by the attractive well- maitained garden. If it got too hot or of an evening the villa is air conditioned and the Sky tv was a good distraction.
The Villa is only a 10 minute walk to Avithos beach which also has two excellent tavernas for those evening meals. The capital Agostoli is a 15 minute drive for a bit of shopping, nightlife and again some excellent restaurants. Two supermarkets ( Lidl & Caerfour) are only a 10 minute drive away for those essentials. Or for a bigger family shop the A & B store across the road from caerfour was better stocked.
John and Claire the owners are a lovely and friendly couple and Claire is generally on hand for anything you need.Booking and confirmation was promptly dealt with.
The villa was ideal for us, a family consisting of my 83 year old father and two daughters of 11 and 20.My father enjoyed his ground floor bedroom with patio doors to poolside with table and chairs for his coffee in the early morning sunshine. We all had a soothing and relaxing holiday.
John and Claire we give you 10 out of 10 and have recommended you to many of our friends and customers of our business.

Villa Agua is wonderful! Great location only being a short drive from the airport, not far from the Argostoli and a short drive to some lovely beaches. The facilities offered by the villa are fab, everything you need for a holiday. The pool is beautiful with views to the sea. So peaceful. Only one problem with our stay - it wasn't long enough! We intend to return next year as Kefalonia is so beautiful with loads to see an do. Our children aged 5 & 9 loved it. Claire & John are the perfect hosts too!
Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

We stayed in Villa Agua in July 2009 for 1 week and had a fantastic time. We have 2 small children (3.5 and 21 months) and they loved every minute of it - from running around the sofas to spending all afternoon in the swimming pool!
It has everything you need for a holiday - the villa itself is gorgeous, the views phenomenal, its close enough to the airport and the capital and not far from an absolutely divine ice cream and cake shop (don't be on a diet as the cakes are to die for!!!).
You can go out and have a nice time or stay in and have a romantic evening together (after the kids have gone to bed).
The villa isn't lacking in anything, and John & Claire are very helpful with anything you need. So much so this was our second trip to Kefalonia previously staying in Villa Flora, and will probably return again next year.
There is no down side - and we would recommend a visit here to all - you will not be disappointed

We stayed in Villa Agua last year and loved it so much we returned again this year!
The villa is even better than the photos - very well equipped and clean. The pool is fantastic!
Kefalonia is such a lovely place to visit, the locals are so friendly and the scenery is fab. There is not much to do if you are looking for all night discos and package tour entertainment, but if you want local food, great tavernas, picturesque villages and beaches - Kefalonia is perfect!
The owners - John and Claire are really helpful and obviously take alot of care to ensure we have a great holiday - thanks!

We stayed in Villa Agua on 31 May for a week. The villa was beautiful with a magnificent view and was furnished to a very high standard. We met Clare the villa owner who was extremely helpful and pleasant. We were left a lovely welcome pack for our arrival which was very much appreciated. I would definately recomend this villa to couples or families. You definately need a car to get to the local taverners etc.

We stayed in Villa Agua in September 2008 for our honeymoon, Claire & John were very helpful advising us on car rental and places to visit on the island, when we arrived they had also left us some champagne to celebrate. The villa was more than we could hoped for, very well furnished and equipped. The views are amazing. We visited the whole of the island and would most definately return to Villa Agua. We could not have asked for a better honeymoon. Look forward to our next visit.

I spent the second week of my honeymoon at Villa Flora in August '08, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Secluded, stunning views, a superb pool and the villa itself is beautiful, very well equipped and feels like a showhome! The property was clean and the pool man came to clean the pool every couple of days, with a cleaner mid-week.
I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone - I spent forever looking for 'THE' villa for my honeymoon and this one was spot on, I couldn't have asked for anything more!
We didn't do a great deal on the island except relax (!) as we had spent the previous week busy doing things on Ithaca, but Kefalonia is beautiful, there's lots to see and do and it's a lovely island to just enjoy driving around!
