The Ionian Islands region
The largest and most beautiful of the Ionian islands. The 1600m high mount Anios splits the island in two, the northern section full of dramatic scenery and the southern peninsular a mass of sandy beaches. It has a unique geological phenomena with the Drogarati cave and the icy blue Melissani lake.
This unique luxury villa is located in the heart of the traditional village of Kaligata. This area is historically one of the most prestigious on the island of Kefalonia and the plot enjoys superb views of the Ionian Sea, the sunset, and the traditional village of Domata. The area is surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and cypress trees and is just a short drive from the beautiful sandy beaches of Avithos, St Hellis and Ammes. The nearby villages of Lakithra and Svoronata also offer a number of local tavernas, mini-markets and bakery. There is also a small mini-market located in the village itself along with a small children’s playground.
Kalligata is also very close to the famous village of Kourkoumelata, where a number of cultural events and concerts are held in the summer months. In addition to this the villa is just a 10 minute drive from the capital of the island, Argostoli, which offers a cosmopolitan atmosphere with its beautiful harbour front, central square, a pedestrian shopping street with a number of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars.

"A truly memorable holiday villa"
We have recently returned from our second wonderful holiday on the beautiful island of Kefalonia. This holiday was made particularly memorable thanks to beautiful Villa Agua, which is located in a quiet , pretty village and has stunning views overlooking a valley down to the sea. The villa is modern, spacious, beautifully furnished, light , airy and very comfortable. An excellent en suite to every bedroom, and a modern well equipped kitchen that caters for every need. We chose to shop in the fabulous fruit, meat and fish markets of Argostoli (look out for the turtles!) and eat our lovely fresh food, washed down with a bottle of Robola on the balcony as we watched the sun go down. The pretty garden contains a good sized infinity pool which was regularly cleaned and a joy to swim in at the end of a hot day! We hired a car for the duration of our stay (2 weeks) to make the most of all the island has to offer. The beaches are wonderful, Myrtos and Antisammos being our favourites, but we also spent a few days at Avithos beach which is 5 minutes down the road from Villa Agua, is sandy, has beautiful clear sea and two delightful tavernas. Claire, who owns the villa and stays on the island during the summer is delightful and could not have been more helpful - we will definitely return!

"Beautiful, well equipped Villa with stunning views and lovely pool"
Our stay at Villa Agua in Kefalonia was one of the best holidays we have ever had. We were staying as a group of friends for another friend's wedding and the Villa was perfectly suited for this sort of trip -plenty of living space in the open plan kitchen/living room, and a seperate bathroom for each bedroom. The Villa was beautifully decorated in a modern style and had all the essentials, including a really nice well maintained pool with plenty of space for relaxing and sunbathing, and with stunning views across the island and out to sea. The villa was well equipped, there was air con in each room and insect screens, with Sky TV and Wifi an added bonus. We enjoyed a couple of dinners out on the terrace, including a barbecue. The owners of the Villa were very welcoming and helpful.
The Villa was situated in a small non-touristy village, with plenty of tavernas/restaurants nearby, we would recommend both 'Muses' and 'Acropolis' . We also visited the nearest beach to the villa, Avithos which was a 5 minute car journey, a very pretty quiet beach with a bar and taverna, white sand and a warm sea. There was also a bigger beach with watersports etc about a 20 minute drive away, which was also very well maintained. Hiring a car is a must as it gets too hot to walk during the day and public transport seemed non-existent, it also means that you can explore the island which had plenty to offer.
Overall we had a brilliant stay and would certainly recommend this Villa to friends.
