About the home

This house is set on a hillside with sweeping views out to the sea and valley below. The outdoors with 200 m2 of terracotta tiles is equipped with teak furnishings for 6 an outdoor shower and a bbq for which to enjoy the beautiful Cephalonian days. A 9x5 swimming pool equipped with jacuzzu jets and a small waterfall is great to plunge in and cool off from the hot summer sun. Overlooking the pool is a stone hideaway to relax from the shade with Coco Mat designed pillows for your comfort.There is secured private parking with an automatic gate and Mediterranean gardens planted with herbs for you to enjoy your summer meal outside on the terrace Suitable for families up to six or couples travelling together you can enjoy Cephalonia at its best.

Relax and soak up the sun around the pool or enjoy a glass of wine watching the sunsets sitting in the stone hideaway. Have a swim in the local beach cove just a 20 min walk down the hill to St. Jerusalim You can enjoy a meal at the traditional Greek taverna and a night out afterwards in the local famous and posh fishing cove of Fiscardo which is just a 15 min. drive away. The owners are fluent in English and are nearby to help you with any questions you may have.

A traditional door opens into an open plan living, dining, and kitchen area. Here there are two balcony doors that host the spectacular view and lead to the large terrace with private pool. From the living area a door leads to the master bedroom 1 (double bed) with en suite bath/shower. Also from the living area another door leads to bedroom 2 (twin beds) with an en suite bath/shower. This room in turn opens to a narrow room which can be used as a third bedroom (twin beds) also with an en suite bath/shower. When not used as a bedroom this room can be used as a sitting/reading room.

The partially covered courtyard serves as an alfresco sitting and dining area for 6 throughout the summer. The delightful terrace looks over the pool and gardens to the sea beyond. To one side of the pool is the stone hideaway which provides a superb spot in which to relax with a drink and enjoy the glorious sunsets.

The courtyard and pool area are all visible from every room inside the villa and make it ideal for families with children.The entire property is encircled with a traditional stone built wall and sliding automatic gate and this also makes it ideal for families with children.

The Kefalonia / Fiscardo area

Cephalonia is a beautiful island with much to offer -- including dramatic landscapes, picture-postcard villages, colourful harbours, stunning beaches and a fascinating history. There are so many places to explore in Cephalonia -- you could visit Argostoli, the bustling capital of the island, or go to the underground lake at Melissani cave, or see the stalactites and stalagmites at the cave of Drogarati.

If history is more your thing, then there are Venetian fortresses, Byzantine remains, Mycenaean tombs and Roman mosaics. In short, Cephalonia is full of variety and is a perfect place to escape to and enjoy the richness and authenticity of island life.

There are direct flights to the island from the UK to Argostoli airport where there is car hire available or a taxi can be arranged to take you to the villa. There is also car hire in Fiscardo. There are direct flights every day from Athens to Argostoli. There are daily ferries from Patra to Sami where there is also car hire available.

“Picture postcard villa” You walk on to the terrace and you know you're on holidays: sun loungers, umbrellas, pool and a fantastic sea view. Very pleasant villa, large landscaped gardens, plenty of space indoors and outdoors. Everything you might need is there. Yes, you definitely need a car - I can't imagine anybody making it back up the hill from the nearest beach on foot. And yes, the wasps are annoying, but only a minor inconvenience. I would also recommend the nearest taverna at St Jerusalim beach, great authentic food, and our favourite in Fiskardo was Tassia for the best of local cuisine.

“Our perfect villa” Villa Salamandra is simply our perfect villa. Having fallen in love with Kefalonia 8 years ago we have returned every year staying in different villas from Asos to Fiscado. We have never before felt that we wanted to return to the same villa, always choosing to try a different one in a different village, but having stayed in Salamandra we cannot wait to come back to it. The location is perfect, situated on the west coast within easy reach of Fiscado (great for a wander, look at the boats, stop for a drink and to hire a little boat for the day), Asos (favourite place for eating) and Myrtos beach (stunning beach, you have to go at least once). The little beach, Agia Jerusalim, just 5 minutes by car is clean and uncrowded and of course beautiful. But it is the villa itself which is so unique. The modern decor works perfectly, a refreshing change from the usual "modern" greek interiors we've encountered in every other villa we've stayed in. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable (a real plus I'm sure you'll agree) and, if there are only 4 of you staying, the third bedroom makes a lovely dressing/reading room with 2 sets of french doors overlooking the pool area .On arrival there was wine and water in the fridge, fuit in the fruit bowl and flowers on the table and decorating the beds/towels etc, exquisite touches! But it is outside which was the most special to us. A stunning view, with fantastic sunsets to watch from the delightful outside "lounge" area. Quality wooden furniture and sun loungers, even a set of rattan chairs under a parasol. It was peaceful and private . . a little piece of Heaven and we will be coming back!!

“A perfect Greek chill out” If a little bit of rural Kefalonia is what you are looking for then the location of Villa Salamandra is perfect. The villa is traditional with a modern feel and has everything you will need at hand apart from a bath! It accomodates 6 comfortably, we travelled with 3 adults and 3 young children. One attraction is that Villa Salamandra is on one level and therefore perfect for keeping your eyes on the young ones but also the sea view is fantastic, capturing the amazing sunsets from the hillside location. For those not wanting to sit by the pool the shingle beach is a 5min drive down the hill or a challenging walk for the bravehearted. Here sun loungers and parasols can be hired and the local cuisine sampled in the Taverna. The nearest supermarkets provide all the essentials and are a 5 minute drive away back up the hill in Maganos. For those wanting more sophistication and the chic yachting scene then Fiskardo is only 15 minutes away by car. Here there is a wide variety of restaurants plus some very cool bars and shops. Motor boats can be rented out for the day to explore the numerous coves and beaches. A must is a day trip to Myrtos beach, amazing views from the hillside viewing points and an evening to Assos for dinner. I really cannot fault the experience we had this Summer and feel this villa has something for everyone.

“Everything was perfect” My kids (age 22 and 19) and I have travelled to many of the Greek Islands and this was one of our most enjoyable trips. Villa Salamandra is beautiful and set in a wonderful location with a fabulous vista and a selection of perfect beaches between 5 and 15 minutes drive - Dafnoudi was our favourite. The owners are lovely and everything was perfectly arranged and maintained for our stay. Asos is not far away and has the finest taverna I have ever visited - unfortunately I can't remember the name! We will definitely be going back.
