The Ionian Islands region
Kefalonia is one of the most popular island of Greece. With its supremely panoramic views from the towering mount AINOS, Kefalonia reveals a glimpse of paradise at every turn. From churches and monasteries perched precariously on cliff tops to secluded sandy coves and timeless, untouched villages - you"ll find an abundance of spectacular scenery, traditional tavernas, perfumed pine forests, stunning white beaches and warm, friendly Greek island hospitality.
Explore the fishing port of Fiskardo for its small yachts and charming narrow streets of Venetian-style houses. Take in the spectacular views of other Ionian Islands from mount AINOS, Kefalonia's highest mountain. Stop for some local wine-tasting at the village of Valtsamata on the hike down. Follow the dramatic cliff and mountain road to Myrtos beach then wind down in the atmospheric little harbour of Assos where you meet the famous castle of Assos.
St.Thomas is one of the most loved settlements of Kefalonia on the south side of island.part of the charm of the area is simplicity, unaffected by the "development" in combination in peace. You can enjoy swimming on two sandy beaches or even the level rocks, there are small tavernas and bar to serve.
The route to the beach in St Thomas is beautiful and you meet just before you arrive the perennial plane trees with small paved square and the fountain with the flowing water. Reaching to the beach you can swim in "natural swimming pool" to your right or you can descend left to the next bay to meet the first sandy beach or follow the path that leads to the second most "private" sandy beach.
Usually the first sandy beach are quite busy so if you have no objection to stretching your towel over the flat rock we suggest the right side. When talking about the "natural swimming pool" we mean it, since a part from the emerald waters and there is a staircase to descend the rocks the less ambitious.
