This modern Villa is set at the top of a hillside in the traditional village of Kefalas, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus private swimming pool this comfortable villa is the perfect base for your holiday in the beautiful Apokoronas area of Crete

Villa De Tara has an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, patio doors from the lounge open onto a terrace that leads to the infinity swimming pool. Also on the ground floor are a twin bedroom and a lovely shower room.

On the first floor you will find another twin bedroom, a full bathroom and the master double bedroom with en suite shower room.

The Crete region

The Apokoronas area is just to the east of the beautiful, historic Venetian city of Chania and includes the beach villages of Almerida and Kalives, the traditional villages of Plaka, Vamos, Gavalachori, Kokkino Chorio, and country villages such as Kefalas and Litsarda. From the myriad blues of the clear, calm, ever changing Mediterranean sea, the clean white, sandy beaches, the white Lefka Ori mountains with the longest gorge in Europe, lush silver-green olive and orange groves, the scent of wild thyme and majestic pine trees surrounding unspoilt villages, even the occasional donkey - Crete has it all.

The Kefalas, Crete area

Not only because of its location Kefalas is one of the most beautiful villages of this area. High on the Cape Drapanos peninsular viewing the blue sea the wish of nostalgia and postcard idyll comes true. The village has preserved its sublime dignity of the past centuries and the cliché of the kafenion with old wooden chairs, of narrow lanes, whitewashed houses and blue sea is still reality. In the upper village interesting architecture with Venetian portals and a ruin of a customs house guarantee this idyll. The wonderful view down to the bay of Georgioupolis and to Rethymnon is just a godsent.

There are some small supermarkets and good tavernas and nearby you will find the small barren and rocky cove of Ombrogialos inclusively a lovely taverna at the seashore. The water here is always crystal clear and very bright turquoise. But take care: it is nice to swim but only when the water is calm!
