The Ekklisies Villas have a lovely rural location on the edge of Kefalas village with dramatic views over the surrounding valleys of olive groves and cypress trees to the stunning White Mountains, and to Souda Bay in the distance. The general stores, cafes and taverna in the village are only a flat 7 minute walk from the villas, and the sandy beach and many amenities in Almyrida is a very scenic 15 minute drive.
The villa has been carefully crafted by their warm and friendly owners, Yiannis and Zoe, to beautifully combine traditional island style with modern comforts. The charm of the villas is enhanced by the exposed beamed ceilings and 2 bedroom floors made from local cypress wood, a fireplace, window surrounds and porch columns and arches all made from local stone, brass bathroom fittings, and traditional lace curtains on all of the windows.

The Crete region
Kefalas is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in the region. The centre of the village is an easy walk from the Ekklisies Villas and it has 2 tavernas, 2 well stocked mini markets, and 5 kafenions. There are eight churches in Kefalas, some of which are historic, and the villagers celebrate with a feast day on August the 15th. On the outskirts of the village towards Drapanos there is the ruin of an ancient windmill, and you will also see many old corn threshing circles dotted around the area.
The Ekklisies Villas are just 10 minutes by car to the gorgeous rocky cove at Ombrosgialos, which is famous for its turquoise water, great snorkelling, and lovely taverna nestled on the rocks. The village of Vamos which has a bank, shops, 2 petrol stations, a pharmacy and 3 great tavernas is only 4.3kms away, and the lovely village of Almyrida, which is built around a crescent shaped sandy beach, is only 7kms away.
Kefalas, Crete area
This beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 45- 50 minutes away by car.

Further details indoors: The villas have been beautifully furnished throughout with elegant dark wood furniture that has been handmade at the workshop of a local craftsman. The dark wood doors, windows, shutters, pergolas, kitchen cabinets, beamed ceiling, and 2 of the bedroom floors have also been made to match. The warm cream coloured walls, downstairs cream floor tiles, and cream kitchen wall tiles co-ordinate perfectly with the wood, and quaint framed black and white prints of Old Chania Town in the last century line decorate the walls.
The thoughtful owners live in Chania but are always available if there is anything that they can do to make your stay at The Ekklisies Villas more comfortable. Upon arrival you will find not only the K-Travel welcome pack, but also fresh fruit, sweets, nuts and raki (the local firewater) that Yiannis and Zoe will have left for you.
