Home description
Villa Marika is a modern villa, built to a very high standard and finished in October 2005. It sits at the edge of the beautiful village of Kefalas, high above the sea with a panoramic view from the bay of Georgioupolis to Rethymnon, and the Psiloritis Mountain range, including Mount Ida.
Wonderful sunrises can also be seen from the villa. Villa Marika has been thoughtfully designed so that all of the bedrooms, main living rooms, terraces, and the pool area benefit from the marvellous sea views. The living area has prime position on the top floor of the villa and the bedrooms are on the ground level, which helps to keep them cooler during the long hot summer months.

The Crete region
Crete is the largest island within Greece. It offers a fantastic variety of lanscapes including snow-capped mountains, rolling hills covered with olive trees and miles and miles of coastline.
Crete has a variety of tourist attractions, small fishing villages, remote towns and cities such as Chania and Heraklion. Whether you come to Crete for the climate and beaches, the culture and traditions, the peaceful seaside villages or the beautiful landscapes, you will find something for everyone.
Kefalas, Crete area
Kefalas is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in the region. The centre of the village is only a short walk from Villa Marika through narrow, winding, bougainvillea lined streets. The village has 2 tavernas, 2 well stocked mini markets, and 4 kafenions.
There are eight churches in Kefalas , some of which are historic, and the villagers celebrate with a feast day on August the 15th. On the outskirts of the village towards Drapanos there is the ruin of an ancient windmill, and you will also see many old corn threshing circles dotted around the area.
Villa Marika is just 10 minutes by car to the gorgeous rocky cove at Ombrosgialos, which is famous for its turquoise water, great snorkelling, and lovely taverna nestled on the rocks. The village of Vamos which has a bank, shops and 2 great tavernas is only 5kms away, and the lovely village of Almyrida , which is built around a crescent shaped sandy beach, is only 8kms away. This beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer. Lining the beach are many excellent tavernas, cafes and shops. Also in Almyrida there is a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 45 minutes away by car.
