A little bit about Sophia's
Sophia's is a traditional Blue Mountains style weatherboard house that sits beautifully in an elevated position providing open vistas and a charming ambience. Located on a quite side street that runs parallel to the Leura Mall, the location in Jersey Avenue is perfectly positioned to be close to everything.
The Leura village centre, with it's collection of restaurants, cafés, unique shops, galleries and wonderful spring flowering cherry trees is just an easy 10 minute walk. In the other direction the start of many special bush walks and cliff top lookouts are only 5 minutes away. In addition the Katoomba/Leura Trolley bus service stops at the end of the road, ready to whisk you off to all the local tourist attractions, including the famous Echo Point and Three Sisters.
The large, comfortable house has lots of areas to relax in, both inside and out. From the wide front veranda you can look above the National Park towards the neighbouring village of Katoomba, giving you a lovely open view and a perfect spot for an evening tipple. The garden at the back offer plenty of space for children to play in
and a BBQ and deck to enjoy those summer days in true Australian fashion.
The large lounge area give everyone plenty of space to relax and enjoy each others company, play games,
watch movies or toast marshmallows over the fire. The separate dining area provides seating for 14 – enough
for the biggest of Family Feasts and also has a log burner to give that extra touch of ambience.
The property also has a children's nook with a TV and Play Station 3 to keep those younger members of the group entertained and having fun.
Whatever the season the house has something to enjoy, be it the veranda, deck and garden in the summer or the wood fires and deep leather loungers in the cooler months, catching up with family and friends will always be pleasant.
With Log fires, high ceilings and wooden floors Sophia's has lots of charm and character, yet with new appliances, soft furnishings and furniture you also have contemporary, convenient features with a hint of luxury.

"great family week-end"
Sophia's is close to walking tracks and views of the Jamieson Valley. The house is also a 12 minute walk to specialty shops, restaurants and a supermarket. Kitchen is well appointed - we had a large family group so we took eskies to keep our drinks cold.Breakfast is provided for the first morning of your stay, this was a nice extra provided by the owners. There is plenty of space and the beds are comfortable. Lounge room is large with television, DVD player, ipod dock there is also a play station in another part of the house no WiFi. Something for everyone. Plenty of bird life and the sounds of the Australian bush enhance the outdoor areas of the house. The block is slopping but there is a back garden with space for some outdoor activities. Sophia's is a perfect winter retreat - a little warm in summer but that is Australia.

"Everything you need for a memorable stay!"
We spent a short 3 night getaway at Sophia's of Leura, our party consisting of 5 adults and a toddler. This place was huge for our group, with many beds to spare! They provide provisions for the first morning breakfast (easily fed our group for 2 mornings) and even provided a high chair and cot for our little one! Besides the provisions, a variety of condiments was also provided to use. It's also worth mentioning that the house was really clean upon our arrival. The place itself is very spacious and contains everything you need and more. Besides the soft linen and towels, it has central heating, 2 fire places, outdoor BBQ, a washing machine, a PlayStation 3 (with games), a DVD player (with a variety of movies), board games, and even an iPod/iPad dock! It's location is fantastic, with only a short drive to Echo Point (3 Sisters) and Katoomba. It's also within walking distance to Leura Mall. I highly recommend this place for large (or small) groups/families, it really does feel like a home away from home with everything you need for a memorable stay and more!

"Fantastic house for groups of friends or a large family"
This house was absolutely perfect for our group of 10 'girls' celebrating our impending 40ths together. There were beds to spare and a huge dining table, and lovely comfortable lounge with open fireplace. One highlight was the very well-stocked kitchen - in addition to a variety of condiments, nibbles, teas, coffee, cooking oil, etc, breakfast for our first morning was provided and was very generous (it fed several of us the second morning too!). Everything in the house is good quality, particularly the linen and towels, and the central heating and fireplaces made the house very cosy. The back deck was sunny and protected from the wind. It was an easy and pleasant walk (or very short drive) into town. Leura is a lovely place to spend a weekend just wandering around town. Our only very minor challenge was getting the fire going, as the wood was a bit damp from recent rain (or maybe it was just us!). Highly recommended for a group of friends to stay, or a large family group. We will definitely be hoping to stay here on our next trip to Leura.
