The Blue Mountains are 65 km (40 miles) west of Sydney. The region is known for its spectacular escarpments, eucalypt forests and gorges and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Blue Mountains is a two hour train ride from Central Station, Sydney or 90 minutes by car.

Medlow Bath is an Australian small town located near the highest point of the Blue Mountains, between Katoomba and Blackheath. It has an approximate altitude of 1050m.

Shibumi View is situated a 5 minute walk from the famous Hydro Majestic hotel. An Iconic building, it was opened as a hydropathic spa in 1904. ( the hotel is now closed and undergoing extensive renovations.)
When finally open again, it will be a great spot for afternoon tea!
Behind the Hydro you will find some walking tracks including Blackheath Glen Nature Trail. You can also walk to Tuckers Lookout overlooking the Megalong Valley.
Also located in Medlow Bath and privately owned is one of the best preserved Gatekeepers cottage in the Blue Mountains.
Situated on the north side of the railway line is The Old Post Office at Medlow Bath. Now an antique shop and book store, the Old Post Office is a great place to stop for coffee or a light meal.
Medlow Bath is home to the Blue Mountains Herb Fest held in February, and the Cottage Garden Fair held in October.
The Katoomba Airfield is actually located at Medlow Bath down Rutland/Grand Canyon Road. Blue Mountains Airlines offer scenic flights, providing one of the most unforgettable exhilarating experiences available in the Mountains. Also down Rutland Road you will find some fabulous walking tracks which take you to Point Pilcher which offers views of Govetts Gorge.
Festivals:
March: Blue Mountains Music Festival: a three day festival of folk, roots and blues music, featuring selected artists from around the world and across Australia
June: Winter Magic Festival: The town of Katoomba is taken over by local musicians, mask makers, dancers, drummers, poets, pantomime artists, choirs, clowns and the community. This becomes a magical time for all to participate, young and old, in one of the areas most premier winter festivals.
July-August: Yulefest in the Blue Mountains: Also known as Christmas in July Yulefest in the Mountains is a special time to celebrate winter in a 'Northern Hemisphere' style with a wide array of traditional Yulefest dinners and luncheons.
