Enquire nowThe Paphos region
Paphos town is strongly connected to Greek mythology and its history. Paphos (or Pafos in Greek) was the capital of Cyprus under the Ptolemy’s, successors of Alexander the Great, when its harbour was a thriving port, and remained Cyprus’s first city for more than seven centuries under Roman rule.
Aphrodite’s Rock (Petra tou Romiou) on the south coast of the island, on one of the most beautiful beaches is the location where Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, was said to have emerged from the sea. Aphrodite’s Rock marks the spot.
Paphos Castle was originally built as a Byzantine fort to protect its famous picturesque harbour. Since 1935 it has been declared an ancient monument and is now considered as one of the landmarks of the Paphos region.
The Kato Paphos / Queens Gardens area
Paphos has plenty of nightlife, night clubs with good live music, discos and bars the loadest of which are centered on Bar Street.
Eating out is part of the entertainment in Paphos. There is a wide variety of restaurants, catering for all tastes. Along with taverns, which provide local and Greek dishes, there are restaurants that offer international cuisine such as French, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Lebanese, Japanese, Russian, Mexican and others.
Paphos is also one of the best family destinations in Cyprus including beaches, a bird park, animal parks, a water park, beach side luna park, playgrounds, amusement parks, karting, family water sports, kids' entertainment and nature preserves.
For golfers there are now four top class 18-hole standard championship golf courses (par 71/72) within approx 30 minutes drive of the property; Aphrodite Hills, Secret Valley, Menthis Hills and Elya GC's (and other new ones in construction).
The most prestigious (and expensive) is Aphrodite Hills and Intercontinental Hotel. The course follows the scenic contours of the two plateaux overlooking the Mediterranean that are divided by a central ravine. The facilities are just fantastic and there is a superb clubhouse restaurant overlooking the 18th hole which is open most of of day for snacks and refreshments. Buggies are essential and included in the green fee. Recommended just as a place to visit.
So, whether you're looking for a sunny beach getaway, golf, night life or just lazing by the pool it is available here for a great family, couples or wedding party vacation.

We recently spent a week at this accomadation. It was was like a home from home and my family settled in very quickly. Its very spacious and the perfect location for the pool as it backs straight onto the pool. If you require more privacy the balcony upstairs is perfect. The owner made us well aware of the building work going on next door, it didn't cause us any problems. The resort is good it caters for all types, Coral Bay is only a cheap 15min bus ride away, the harbour offer some fantastic restaraunts. I would highly recommend the Jolly Roger for a family day out worth every penny, our boys are still talking about it. Response: Thankyou for your great comments |

To explain a bit, my nephew was getting married in Paphos and the families came over enmass to make sure he did not back out 8-) it meant that between all the families, we actually rented 5 apartments from different owners in the Queens gardens complex. This particular one (apartment 5) was where my wife and I and 15 year old son stayed, My other older son and daughter and partners rented apartment 8, (three doors to the left of this one) The other 3 apartments rented were on the top floor by the bride and grooms families..... Of them all, we reckon we got the best ones. The upper apartments are bigger and very plush but you need to go round the back and take a lift up to them. No big deal but wandering out the patio doors of our apartments puts you 10 feet from the amazingly good pool and a surprisingly cheap bar (Helens bar)run by Ron and serving quite good food. We were slightly off season (Sept) so although the temp was about 30 deg, it was pleasant and there were always plenty of sun loungers available. All the apartments including Grahams one were spotless, well appointed, both Graham and Linda (apartment 5) organised welcome packs with the usual critical food groups, Vodka, Wine, mixers, oh and some munchies too. The price for these was quite reasonable. Everything worked, everything was in good condition. On the first floor are two bedrooms and a large clean bathroom, the bedrooms, (the master is a double, the other a twin) both have balconies. Grahams one is the only one in the block though with a large fan which made sitting out in the noonday heat quite pleasant. He also has a wee safe built in though security in the place is pretty good.... Queens gardens is well placed for everything.. there are several quite good resteraunts very close by. A mini market across the road which provided all the essentials, a quite good bar with sports showing on TV to the right of that. Cheap car hire along the road, (we got a 7 seater for 50Euro a day) Bar street is about 10 minutes walk away and hots up about midnight. They do that buy one get one free plus a free shot which when there are 30 of you means you need a sodding big table.... The harbour is also about 10 minutes away as well, we did a fishing trip which was a bit rough and caught about 4 sardines, not a lot of fish left there, Guess the spanish got them all..... Food in Paphos is variable but I highly recommend Fat Mamas (2 mins) which serves huge portions of well cooked steaks and ribs etc (also dancers who were surprisingly good) A Japanese place off bar street (Cant remember the name) which was seriously expensive but as good as any place I have ever eaten in, two and a half hours of superb food and teppanyaki entertainment, very good atmosphere and splendid saki.... Also down at the harbour a large seafood place called Posieden, (green awning), great food and service, not too expensive, surrounded by cak tourist shops that kept the kids entertained for hours...... Bad points.... Almost none. Right next door is a huge building site however whilst wee were there, all worked had stopped due to them finding some old archaeology stuff. If the building site starts up again, it might get a bit noisy and dusty during the day although I doubt it would matter much. The island has had some recent electricity issues however talking to Roy, it did not seem to affect them much. Cyprus generally is not cheap. Wifi Access from Leak cost about 30 euro for two weeks but ok speed wise and worked throughout the apartment. Good points... Great apartment, great apartment complex, great pool, easy access to everything. This place is family oriented and most of the apartments are occupied by their owners so making noise at late at night is highly not reccomended. (sorry for that everyone but it was a wedding) everyone was actually very friendly and we spent many evenings just sitting by the pool chatting with locals. If this sounds nauseatingly good, I have to say it was possibly the best holiday we have had in many years. We will be going back. Response: Thank you from No 8, what else can I say after this great review except I look forward to hearing from you again when you decide to come back. This is our first Trip Advisor review but we have several more each year along these lines in our Holiday Lettings advert - please have a look. Graham. |
