The apartment enjoys a private west facing terrace with outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining, together with sunbeds and a parasol. Terraces overlook the pool and catch the sun from noon til sunset. Atmospheric night lighting in the pool and grounds provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxing evening.

Coast/Beach
Paphos enjoys an expansive coastline providing a wide variety of beaches to choose from, ranging from secluded bays, to lively resorts, sandy beaches and rocky coves, you are bound to find the right one for you. A favourite with the locals, Municipal Beach is a blue-flag sandy beach just a few minutes walk from the apartment. Water sports, sun bed and umbrella hire are available here from April to October. There is a beach bar and restaurants nearby. Coral Bay is just a 15 minute drive or bus ride away.

Skiing
Skiing in Cyprus is a well kept secret! The ski season generally runs between January and April. The Cyprus Ski Club which is an hour and a half drive away has four ski lifts reaching 8 alpine ski runs on the slopes of Mount Olympus (1,951m). The runs accommodate all skiers, from beginner to advanced levels. There are also cross country ski tracks. Downhill and cross country ski equipment can be rented. It really is possible to ski in the mountains and swim in the sea on the same day!

The Kato Paphos area

The Paphos District surrounds the coastal town of Paphos, once the ancient capital of Cyprus and today amongst the islands’ most popular tourist destinations. Its age old history and archaeological treasures have merited its naming as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

The town itself has two main areas: Kato Paphos (Lower Paphos) and Pano Paphos (Upper Paphos). Kato Paphos is a vibrant cosmopolitan resort, best known for its mediaeval fort, old fishing harbour, seafront promenade and is highly popular with tourists and locals alike. There are numerous sandy beaches here, along with excellent open-air restaurants and entertainment facilities. Cultural events ranging from operas to art exhibitions and concerts regularly take place.

Pano Paphos is host to the main shopping area and traditional market consisting of craft, embroidery, leather, jewellery and pottery. Here you will also find a plethora of well known department stores.

In addition to shopping, sunbathing and water sports, there’s plenty to do in Paphos during the day. Places of interest include the Byzantine Museum; Roman mosaics at the House of Dionysos, the Archaeological Museum, St. Paul’s Church and Pillar, the Tomb of the Kings and the Christian Catacombs. These are all just a short walk or bus ride away. Further afield you will find Aphrodite's Rock, the "birth" place of the mythical goddess Aphrodite.

“Amazing apartments, home from home and couldn't wish for any better.” We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Athenaeum Holiday apartments and have had a lovely, lovely time. The hosts Helen and Alvin are absolutely wonderful and they ensure that your stay is enjoyable and memorable. They are there if you need them but are very unobtrusive to ensure that your privacy is not invaded. The apartments are extremely well equiped and they are in a very central position. Bars and restaurants are easily accessible within a 5 minute walk. We have holidayed in Paphos for over 20 years and we have stayed in a lot of different accommodations and I would definately rate the Athenaeum as one of the very best. We have booked again for another 2 weeks in September and quite frankly we cannot wait to return. While we were there we enjoyed some lovely meals at Grazie, Argo and the First and Last pub. Although we had heard people say that the prices were expensive this year, we found that the prices were reasonable.

“Great central location and excellent standard apartment” Based just a short walk from central Paphos and its amenities our 1 bed apartment was furnished to a high standard with modern facilities such as ceramic hob, American style fridge freezer and automatic washing. machine. A comprehensive range of channels can be accessed via the plasma television. Our helpful unobtrusive hosts Helen and Alvin are lovely people and nothing was too much trouble for them. We found the pack explaining how to use the various electronic equipment very useful. As it is a very small complex the pool is never overcrowded and indeed on some days we were the only people using it. Comfortable sunbeds are provided. We have visited Cyprus numerous times and these are the best apartments we have stayed in and offer excellent value for money. We found our stay a totally relaxing and enjoyable experience and have already booked for next year. Response: Thank you for your kind words. “Excellent location, gorgeous apartment” We spent nearly two weeks at this apartment and it was great, both the location and the apartment itself were fantastic. The apartment was very modern, with air conditioning and a lovely outside patio area leading out to the pool. The location of the apartment meant that it was close enough to reach the lively areas of Paphos with ease, but also far enough away so we were not disturbed by the noise. The walk to the town/beach was minimal, 10 minutes at the most. Helen and Alvin were extremely accomodating and ordered us a taxi both to and from the airport, and also cleaned the apartment during our stay. We were left to get on with our holiday, which was great, but we always had the comfort of knowing that we would be able to ask them anything at any time. I would definitely recommend the Athenaeum Holiday Apartments, and we will definitely be returning at some point. It was great value for such a great apartment. Response: Thank you for your review. “Beautiful Modern Apartment” I have been visiting Cyprus for 13 years now and always stay in private accommodation, this apartment is by far the most modern and immaculate one i have stayed in. The interior is excellent and of a high standard, kitchen facilites are spot on and whole apartment is is very comfortable with the added bonus of the pool outside the patio.. Location is excellent, across the road and down the street is Bar street, its away from the hustle and bustle but only a five minute walk to all the restraunts, pubs, shops and a lovely stroll to the Harbour. Booking the apartment was easy, Helen responded straight away and kept in touch via e-mail, Helen sent directions through to us, the security deposit was paid back into my account imediately after leaving and she was on hand to welcome us and if we needed any advice. I would highly reccommend this apartment and it lived up to how it was described on the website, the only downside was i only booked for 3 days for a wedding as i was staying in Limassol and would have loved to stay longer. “Home away from home” We were celebrating a special occasion and I wanted to make sure everything will go as planned. So, before we arrived, I've bombarded Helen & Alvin with the emails, asking numerous questions and making requests. Every email was answered to the fullest extent and every request was fulfilled. I was amazed and truly appreciated the level of service even BEFORE we arrived!!! The apartment was exactly as pictured, very cozy, clean and fully staffed with everything you need, including dishes and cleaning supplies. It really felt like home. Beautiful pool two steps from the back door really added to the ambiance. Public beach is within 10 minutes walk. Also, there are plenty of the restaurants and pubs in the area. Helen & Alvin proved to be as good hosts as you could think of, who really did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable and stress-free!. I can write 3 more paragraphs on how helpful they were in anything we needed, from arranging the appointment at the hair salon, to driving me to the pharmacy when I needed. We cannot wait to go back.
