The Paphos District
Paphos is the capital of the western region. Paphos consists of two areas the coastal area (Kato Paphos) and the town itself, which is slightly inland.
Paphos town is the main shopping area and there is also a weekly market for bargain hunters!
There are a number of sandy bays dotted around the town, many of which offer water sports and scuba diving. The best beach is Coral Bay, which is a 15 minute drive from the apartment.
The climate in Paphos makes the summer months a popular time for tourism in Paphos, when temperatures easily reach into the mid 30 degrees Celsius every day; however, the cooler winter months make walking and cycling ideal activities
Kato Paphos / Tomb of the Kings area
Paphos itself consists of two towns, each with its very own character. Ktima on the cliff (Upper Paphos) and Kato Paphos by the sea (Lower Paphos). One is virtually unchanged over the centuries and thoroughly Cypriot, while the other has expanded over the last decade from a sleepy fishing village and harbour, into a vibrant cosmopolitan resort which is expanding and improving each year.
In Kato Paphos, (in the archaeological park), you will find many fine mosaics and buildings from Greek and Roman periods, plus the Harbour Castle. Close by, is the church of St Pauls Pillar, where the pillar St Paul was tied to can be found. Further down this road are the Tombs of the Kings and Christian Catacombs.
If you decide to hire a car, you are only ten minutes drive from Coral Bay resort with all its cafes, bars, restaurants and other entertainment as well as one of the best beaches in Cyprus. You are also only 20 minutes from Paphos airport.
Going towards the unspoilt Akamas Peninsula (12km) there is Lara Bay, (famous for turtles) and Latchi, famous for its seafront and harbour restaurants as well as the clean sandy beach and crystal clear waters.
Heading North, you can find the route to Cedar Valley and the Troodos Mountains. The route is peppered with many other small but charming villages along the way.
An excellent highway runs to all corners of Cyprus but the old coast road is the most scenic route. A drive along here past various ancient sites such as Aphrodites Birthplace and Temple, towards Limassol, taking in Curium, is delightful and is littered with the most beautiful views.
There are 3 beautiful golf courses in the area, all with an individual style. All are within a 15 minute drive. Due to 340 sunshine days per year, Cyprus does offer many other activities but they are of course, too numerous to mention here.

There are also direct flights from most major European airports including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, Prague, Milan, Rome, Paris and Madrid.
Paphos International airport is a 15 minute drive and Larnaca international airport is a 75 minute drive to the apartment which is located in the heart of Paphos Tourist Area.
