The Paphos District
Paphos is a delightfully breezy town. Here you can combine both culture and entertainment. Here you will find some of Cyprus' most stunning archaeological gems, such as it's roman mosiacs and Tomb of the Kings. Bananas grow in profusion along the south western coast, yet the Akamas Peninsula is one of the islands last unspoilt wildernesses and home to flora and fauna species found only on Cyprus.
Villages, untouched by time, litter the valleys and the vast Paphos Forest melts into the tracts of the Tyllirian wilderness in the north of the tregion
Visit one of the unspoilt village tavernas and witness first hand the outstanding friendliness and hospitality of the Cypriots whilst enjoying some of the wonderful flavours found in a meze (a feast for as little a €£9.00 per head).
340 days of sunshine beckons you to this wonderful island where you can sometimes believe time has stood still as you stand in a Roman ampitheatre or gaze at the wonderous mosaics.
Kato Paphos / Tomb of the Kings area
Kato Paphos is a mixture of old and new. Here you can combine both culture and entertainment you will find some of Cyprus' most stunning archaeological gems, such as it's roman mosiacs and Tombs of the Kings which is a few minutes walk from the apartment. Bananas grow in profusion along the south western coast, yet the Akamas Peninsula, only a 25 minuite drove away is one of the islands last unspoilt wildernesses and home to flora and fauna species found only on Cyprus.
There are plentiful bars and restaurants on the Tomb of the Kings road just a stones throw away, "Fat Mammas" is highly recommended, get there early though as the queue can take a couple of hours to go down. Head in the opposite direction and it will take you down toward the harbour, again you are spoilt for choice of eating places.
For the family or just the young at heart a free bus service takes you to the "Paphos Water Park" and also the "Paphos Bird and Animal Park" there are many other attractions to keep the children amused. Just a walk along the harbour watching the boats, eating ice cream or seeing the Pelicans being fed at the restaurant of the same name will reward you with great memories. All the restaurants welcome children with open arms - the family is still a great institution here in Cyprus.
Only a few minutes drive out of Paphos can take you to very traditional tavernas and coffee shops where the menu is whatever they have in the establishment that day - always good to ask what they have, they will normally recommend their own speciality. Very often the local tavernas will only cook certain dishes on certain days - don't expect a full menu although you always know what you get is fresh.
The festivals in Cyprus are too numerous to mention but always envoke colourful displaysand much joviality, you never feel unsafe in this area no matter how many people are milling around.
Kato Paphos is also ideal for those who want to get away from the crowds - bus services, taxis and tours are available just a few minutes walk from Tomb of the Kings. Hiring a car is simple, so is driving in Cyprus, they drive on the left as in the UK, beware traffic lights though red doesn't always mean stop to the locals!!
For those who enjoy the game of golf only 20 minutes drive takes you to Tsada Golf Club established in 1994, the first course designed by Donald Steel. Par 72 - 6,855 yards and located amongst vineyards, next to a 12th century monastery it is bathed in cooling sea breezes in the summer season. Tsada is a challenging course which has an excellent club house, swimming pool with all changing facilities.
About a 20 minute drive is the Secret Valley Golf Club (Par 72 - 6,737 yards) an 18 hole championship course surrounded by stunning rock formations and mature trees. A fully equipped pro shop and all facilities you would expect from a luxury golf course including an excellent restaurant and bar serving snacks, lunches and evening meals.
Less than 25 minutes takes you to the Aphrodite Hills Golf Club (Par 71 - 6,855 yards) designed by Cabell Robinson another fine example of a championship course built on two plateaux which has spectacular views of the sea. Again with a bar and restaurant serving excellent quality food and stunning views of the coastline and out to sea.
This is also home to restaurants, shops and a luxury health spa set in a village square atmosphere. You will find a variety of restaurants including Asian, Italian, coffee shop, traditional Greek Taverna and an ice cream gelateria. The luxurious Retreat Health Spa is the ultimate in top to toe pampering for mind and body, an expert team of therapists tend to your every need. Day passes, individual treatments, half and full day packages are available.

Visit one of the unspoilt village tavernas and witness first hand the outstanding friendliness and hospitality of the Cypriots whilst enjoying some of the wonderful flavours found in a meze (a feast for as little a €9 per head).

Guestbook
We had a wonderful time, definitely thinking of returning in the future! We couldn't have asked for better accommodation ... the pool at the Roman was great. the staff were very friendly and the guests a nice touch to the location of the apartment. We easily walked to the Tomb of the Kings and all surrounding sites .... we really enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner on the balcony. So thanks again.
